BASC Head Measuring?

It is my understanding that the UK CiC judges are:

Iain Watosn
Tony Dalby Walsh
Charles Fenn
Alisdair Troop
Barry Martin
Chris Rogers
Gary Tatterton
Stevie Todd

From experience, if a head makes ‘gold’ under the BASC system, it will almost certainly make ‘gold’ under CiC.

Yes there are differences in the measuring criteria as discussed, and it’s up to the individual stalker to decide which system they want to use.

Tony,

Surely Mr Griffiths can no longer be measuring heads to CIC standard because he is measuring to BASC standards, standards which they themselves have set up to be different and supposedly better than CIC.

BASC cannot have it both ways, saying that they are using a more up to date and improved system, then in the next breath saying that both systems of measuring produce the same results. If this is so why change?

Simon.

the three head he measured for me just recently where measured the same way he has always done, I think the only difference comes when measuring a head which has not dried out, I don't think BASC wont it both ways and are not claiming to by cic standard, they are just giving people a choice, I do know that of some heads measured by both sets of judges have been within a point or two of each other.
Why change ? well maybe there is a need for change but I don't think the cic will change now!

Tony,

I have read the piece written by Mr Carr in the chicken stalkers gazette on the differences between CIC and BASC measuring and he claims that the BASC system is better than the CIC one, I borrowed a copy! In fact he goes to great lengths to disparage the CIC system and some of the people involved, claiming that the BASC system is better and goes to great lengths to prove how different they are.

Now I presume that this was done with the permission of the BASC, as he and they are in partnership in this matter. How can you, as an advocate of the BASC system, then claim that both systems produce the same results when Mr Carr says (in print) how much better the BASC system is?

To me this smacks of having your cake and eating it, they want it both ways, they are both better than CIC and yet produce the same results. I am sorry but I cannot square this circle, but as I have admitted, I am a bear of very little brain.

Long live the Bogtrotter Awards!

Hebredian gave some wonderful information and was the most honest and informative of contributors to this thread by a long way, but I think I will bow out now as it is going nowhere fast.:coat:

May i ask how many measures BASC have and who they are. ? That might go a long way to telling us how professional they are. CIC HAVE EIGHT I BELIEVE
