I have no idea. Besides like many rumours one here's in the stalking world, I would take it with a pinch of salt.Weren’t we assured that constabularies wouldn’t use it for grants of fac ?![]()
Really ? I’ve heard from several people who were very involved in the old woodland stalker scheme that the plod assured them it would have no bearing on fac grants ….. I can understand why the basc wouldI have no idea. Besides like many rumours one here's in the stalking world, I would take it with a pinch of salt.
And what pray tell have you proof of this?Wrong again
Well I will let you into a little secret. I sat on a Police panel for a short while, and there was no mention of it then or now, to my knowledge.Really ? “ welcome” it being a requirement , more pennies in their coffers , and as always the gullible will go along with it
Look at @VSS post before basc have said you need to be level 2 to be on the register , so therefore he’s wrong ? I’m sorry you see my posting as aggressive I see it as helpful honesty ?And what pray tell have you proof of this?
Lets cool down aggressive posting on here please. If you cant post politely, DON'T post at all.
There was nothing to stop you applying without dsc2, as I didBASC did put out a little video to clarify and address some of the queries that were being raised. It made it quite clear that DSC2 was an essential requirement, regardless of other experience and qualifications.
It definitely didn't say "DSC2 or equivalent".
We’ll I guess everyone else was lying to me thenWell I will let you into a little secret. I sat on a Police panel for a short while, and there was no mention of it then or now.
Let us know how it goesThere was nothing to stop you applying without dsc2, as I did
This is straight from the websiteWrong again
More like badly informed. In all my 45 plus years of being involved in this business I have never known the amount of stalkers that frankly would start and argument on so many issues. Some would even start and argument with themselves in a locked wardrobe. We’ll I guess everyone else was lying to me then, but as I say there’s zero requirement for Dsc to get an fac and any force trying to implement it should be shown the guidelines
So in your “ superior “ opinion do you think it’s right that forces insist on Dsc for grant of a deer rifle despite there being zero mention of it in the guidelines ? I’m genuinely curious as to your mindset .More like badly informed. That was my initial interpretation when I read it. However, the explanatory video released by BASC made it quite clear that DSC2 was an absolute requirement. This is straight from the website
"How the register works
BASC will hold the details of any member wishing to apply, including their location and qualification levels. When opportunities arise, we will contact all members on the register in the areas surrounding the property and put them in contact with the relevant parties. There is no cost to join the register.
The register is designed primarily for those who have achieved their DSC2 as this is the minimum qualification that most landowners require.
The initiative is designed to open up more deer management opportunities to BASC members, and reinforce the fact that competent volunteer deer stalkers are a vital tool when it comes to controlling the UK’s deer populations."
While it is primarily designed for those with DSC2 it is not exclusive at the moment, that may change or it may not who knows
Yeah that's what I think mate, give it a go see what happens, no worse off compared to not applying at allThat was my initial interpretation when I read it. However, the explanatory video released by BASC made it quite clear that DSC2 was an absolute requirement.
No harm in trying to apply without though. I might give that a go myself.
I don't think BASC, as an organisation, have an account, do they?I have been a bit slow to realise, this thread was started by Conor, why isn't he or BASC trade members?
BDS have a charity account, that's fair, but BASC aren't a charity.
@sikamalc doesn't seem fair to me, being a trade member myself.
They did once, a banner addI don't think BASC, as an organisation, have an account, do they?
Conor does, and he's paying a site supporters subscription.
