A couple of very simple questions for you guys at BASC:

Have you activitely been involved in opposing this legislation change in court throughout the entire process?

If no, why not?

If yes, why did you not know/how were you not prepared for the result of it announced today?

We essensially pay the wages of your staff and we do need serious answers.

Yup, only toffs go shooting, don't you know? In reality, this is Packham's personal class war.
Definitely an own goal, as the "toffs" birds (ie, game) aren't covered by this legislation anyway. He's just clobbered the ordinary folk, and they're not going to thank him for it.

Hopefully you are right that P has scored an own goal by attacking the " ordinary" mans sport, Iwould be delighted if this actually galvanised EVERY country sports enthusiast to do something about it by insisting that Everyone bands together to fight this, shamefully the hunt supporters were ignored by large sections of our community when they needed support to defeat the hunting ban, now this issue has hit home with a lot of shooters maybe we will all realise that we must be more proactive and demand that whatever association we belong to gets involved to fight our corner. I will be e mailing CA on it and also BASC as a past member telling them that by their lack of action on this they has confirmed to me that my decision to leave them a few years ago was justified.

This is just the beginning once packham has destroyed shooting his next aim will be fishing. What I fail to understand is why NE fell at the first hurdle when all justice for wild life asked for was a lawful system for 2020.Is or was what we have now not been deemed as lawful. The trouble we face is the hunting shooting fishing community is fragmented whereas the antis are galvanised in there approach look how quickly they crowd funded this latest court case.

I'm surprised that a Conservative government have allowed NE to do this, they have p***ed of the majority of their members with the Brexit debacle and now they are doing the same to one of their historically loyal groups of supporters, the farmers, now nobody at all will vote for them, their leadership must be totally blind or stupid

But I thought they were lovely ! .....

I left as a member many years ago, I have my reasons which I will not make public on here. But I would never return. This recent event just shows how little effort was put into fighting this ridiculous situation, and to my mind the total lack of co ordination from such a large organisation that appears to have really lost its reason for being there.

I agree malc that many years ago in the wagbi days etc it was a cracking organisation that had its members ( and shooting in general ) best interests at heart , like you say though now it just seems very self serving .... worrying thing is I wonder how many game shots who shoot just a couple of times a year even know there are other orgs out there and about their ineptitude ?

I'm not sure any of the shooting organisations have the backbone for this, it will be the farmers organisations that make the most headway in the coming days and weeks

Part of my wildfowling club subscription is to be insured with BASC , this is the package with the club as many clubs.

Know Peter Glenser QC being the chairman of BASC since 2016 will be privy to far more than the ordinary club members.

Below is the first part of his Linkedin profile

"Peter’s practice spans both the prosecution and defence of very serious offences; military law; food crime; licensing; inquests and regulatory law especially in rural and agricultural matters."

You can't tell me that such a upheaval in the General Licence would not have gone unnoticed in the time prior to the announcement from a person dealing in.......... regulatory law especially in rural and agricultural matters.

Personally if it meant giving basc a penny I’d leave .....

My BASC renewal is due at the end of May. I shall be watching developments closely.

I will also be watching what the other shooting organisations are actually doing and what (if anything) has been achieved. I will then make a decision as to where my money goes, based on the evidence.

I remain to be convinced that any one of the organisations has earned their keep on recent important issues.
I may yet (reluctantly) take out good quality private insurance. We shall see.

This is absolutely make or break time for the all the shooting organisations. Either they jump on this immediately or the members will be leaving in their droves.
So it's time for them all to get off their arses and do something positive for a change. No hiding behind the excuse that they are working hard in the background, time to show their metal.

Must admit I'm the same as u kes, just adding insult to injury such pathetic statements from basic. ( And I'm usually a supporter or at least sticking up for them In these threads, getting harder and harder to do)

Really can see this being a defining moment for basc, wot scares me even more is the other orgs are just as bloody useless if not worse
Absolutely bang on countryboy
