Hi. Could anyone please tell me what the thread is for screws, which will be used to mount Weaver bases on an Heym SR20 7x64?

I am asking because I recently acquired this fine old caliber, but the screws accompagnying the rifle is too short to grip suffficiently into the base (lock ), so I have to acquire some new ones.

Thanks in advance,
Tommy
Denmark.

Yes, they have many screws for base mounting. Unfortunately, I can not see which type I actually need for the Heym.
Thanks anyway. :-)
Have you a pair of calipers and measure the screws you take out - what diameter are they. Then measure depth of the screw holes plus the bases and that will be the length. They will almost certainly be a metric 3mm or 3.5mm thread.

A Heym SR20 in 7x64 is a very lovely thing

Be prepared to file down the length of the new screws. You don't want them bottoming out on the front (chamber) threads or locking up the bolt c/o the rear ones!

Did the weaver bases not come with new 6-48 screws? They usually do
Yes, but the I think the previous owner has replaced the screws.
Because they are really short and can only hold on to the thread in the hole with a depth into the hole of max 1mm.
I have a strong feeling they are M3.5, but I am not sure.

I ordered some M3,5 x 14 mm. £6 delivered so not too expensive.
And they fitted nicely - I just have to adapt the length carefully. :)
Thanks for your comments.

Hi I don’t suppose you know where there is a rear open sight for an sr20?
Thank you

In Canada, you can buy hexagonal socket head guard screws for the Heym SR20 at your local hardware store or any Japanese motorcycle dealer. File to fit.
