BBC at its finest....

I think the whole argument of fossil fuel use leading to Global Warming and what we (the UK) as a percentage of the 'problem' should or shouldn't do has moved on to that of pressing ahead with Net Zero, c/o renewables, in the interest of long-term Homeland Security.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Net zero is a very emotive term.
For many it’s the government taxing our behaviour in order to achieve something that is likely unachievable.

With a growing global population net zero is a constantly moving point so it is broadly a moot point, but the underlying message of conserving energy or using renewable sources makes absolute sense.

It has to be in balance with reality tho.

That graph says never been higher, but if you go back further in time it has by a lot, nothing like using partial data to suit your own agenda.
No, it says for millennia, you know, years in the thousands. Not millions, very clearly noted on the graph. Nothing like not reading a chart properly ;)

It doesn't matter how many trees you plant, the co2 that they sequester originates at ground level as part of the neutral carbon cycle, the upper atmosphere stuff comes straight of the exhausts of jet aircraft, if the policians are serious about it there needs to be an immediate phase out of carbon based aviation fuels, but they aren't.
Indeed, there are no quick or easy fixes, but planting trees has other benefits including supporting a more biodiverse ecosystem and also managing water better.

Im all for replanting woodlands/forested areas but what troubles me is this public perception & govt drive that every available green sq inch should become a forest. Let's not forget that plenty of species from bugs to birds do not thrive in wooded environment. Indeed, plenty actively seek out anywhere but heavily wooded lands. And that's not even touching on the use of agricultural land, to produce the low food miles grub the nation apparently wants...!

Ok , I stand corrected on that point.

But that graph is still cherry picking it's start point to suit the agenda.
Nothing even close to that It's one chart relating to levels at a human historical perspective and how changes might effect mankind. There's not much point looking at info from a dinosaurs perspective for driving current policy. You are creating something of a strawman argument.

It's all a bit pointless discussing this. I will be dead when this planet bursts into flames.

The planet will be fine long term, in fact if human numbers dropped most species would benefit hugely. Our grandkids might have some struggles though.

Absolutely, but planting into farm or moorland achieves little, compared to removing excess areas of concrete, tarmac and the like from urban environments and replacing with trees and shrubs

Problem being is it has no basis in reality whatsoever.

No scientific paper exists which demonstrates the purported/claimed link between man-made carbon dioxide emissions (comprising 5% of the total global CO2 budget, the remaining 95% being of entirely natural origin) and climate warming - carbon dioxide levels fluctuate rather dramatically from time of the day and seasons as the video presentation below discusses

Carbon dioxide as a whole constitutes a mere 5% fraction of the so-called (essential, if mis-named) ‘greenhouse’ effect, with the overwhelming 95% of the effect (which just happens to keep the planet some 32°Celsius warmer than would otherwise be the case) provided by water vapour in the atmosphere.

The ENTIRE MOTIVATION for the pursuit of Net Zero is built upon the WHOLLY FALSE ‘belief’ - as opposed to the SCIENTIFIC FACTS - that carbon dioxide - and specifically the mere 5% portion of which is of man-made in origin - somehow represents an existential danger to humankind and climate stability — it CATEGORICALLY does NOT.

Nor is the ‘greenhouse effect of the ESSENTIAL TO LIFE gas linear, but logarithmic: the effect of doubling today’s ’average level’ ( see above video) to 900ppm would be negligible on temperatures. Cyclical temperature rises on Earth do cause subsequent increased carbon dioxide levels, but carbon dioxide, either man made or natural, is NOT THE CAUSE of temperature increases, that is due to cyclical variation of Solar energy output, something we cannot control, much less tax.

Politicians and media sources assisting the agenda are simply lying, in order to tax everyone, and relying on pseudoscience - a whole industry and counterproductive national energy policy is being built on this complete nonsense ideology, which will shortly expose UK plc to energy shortages, never mind some of the world’s most expensive electricity prices - all completely NEEDLESSLY.

Remember too, the cold kills TEN TIMES more people than warmth does.

Enjoy the sunny days while they last, as when the lights go out due to this present madness, it won’t be so enjoyable. As the American man of letters Henry Brooks Adams observed, “Practical politics consists in ignoring facts”…
