BBC at its finest....

This is almost as bad as the lead ban debate....round and round in circles we go...but fair play to you guys for having the patience to post the retorts 👍
We don’t need to wait much longer;
Either the planet is going to burn up according to the oil of gospel according to St Tring, or
We’re going to be getting colder winters by 2030 and beyond, according to Zharkova, Abdussamatov et al ( see above, again); all of this will unfold in the coming decade.

Of course, ‘nothing’ may happen, if you are sceptical of both hypotheses…

Place your bets!

You clearly read to reply and not to comprehend.

I have stated many times in this thread and before that the planet will be just fine. It will balance itself out over time.

However, the short term (and I mean that geologically, not in human terms) will result in a planet that becomes less hospitable to large mammals like us.
Our bodies can’t handle extreme heat or extreme humidity and definitely not both together. So, a bit like before humans were here, certain species will thrive (insects / reptiles, etc) and others (mammals) will struggle.

We can learn to adapt, but we can forget the lovely temperate climate that we have enjoyed for the past few thousand years.

We can expect higher high temperatures and lower low temperatures, excessive rain or severe drought, increased numbers and severity of storms, etc. basically our weather patterns will no longer be predictable so food production will become a lottery.

As an aside, I was chatting to a farmer today and he has finished his harvest, which includes broad (tick) beans which normally wouldn’t be harvested until the end of August / early September. So that’s all winter crops and spring barley done, with only the maize to go, and that will be done in the next few weeks. Not exactly normal, you could say!

As the climate warms things like the Gulf Stream and the jet stream will change, and this could mean a lot more weather coming our way or, if the Gulf Stream gets diverted south rather than north in the Irish Sea as a result of Greenland’s ice cap melting, the west cost of the UK getting much colder and Scotland becoming more like Iceland.

This is why I have built bunds around my boundary - some 600m or so, as we are liable to streams overflowing onto flat land, and I don’t want to get flooded out!

PS, if I’m wrong (ie your theory of super cold winters by 2030,etc is shown to be correct) then I will drive up to your house, openly admit on camera that I was suckered and buy you a pint.

Fancy matching that wager??

I think so.
But FF did say that the earth rotated in a different direction, which is crackers.

The magnetic polarity of the planet changes every few hundred thousand years iirc, and this is often the cause for massive deposits of small sea living invertebrates (formanifera if you like) occurring at the bottom of our oceans as they lose their way and swim down instead of up.

The splendours of Florence and other renaissance cities were built during the period when Italy ( then a land of City states) enjoyed warmer conditions than today’s, leading to better growing conditions and harvest, which greatly enriched these places.

It is my contention that Zharkova et al are looking in the right direction, whereas the BBC and its bamboozled/gullible audience subscribe to the wholly, demonstrably false and fake proposition that human induced carbon dioxide (the 5% of the total CO2 budget, or 17 ex 425ppm) is the sole cause of global warming. The proposition that the molecule is able to both warn the planet and cool the planet simultaneously depending on latitude is of course preposterous, and yet some would suggest or imply this to be the case.

Zharkova sets out her stalk clearly and intelligently, without hand-waving or whataboutery, explaining the process. She even takes the time to explain what the IPCC and their disciples got wrong in her pet subject (radiative transfer, that is between the CO2 molecules and the atmosphere), and yet we are urged to disregard or ignore unassailable cold calculus. Record cold temperatures are being recorded in Antarctica, right now: minus 70° Celsius and below - the lowest since records began, in 1958; distinct, near record cold temperatures are also being recorded at northern latitudes, again - right now. Watch again and notice Zharkova’s insistence that the process has been ongoing for some time, it’s not a light switch type change, but a gradual one; it will enter the serious phase toward the beginning of the next Solar Cycle, in 2030. Abdussamatov has been telling this for some time, years in fact, but to no avail - according to the BBC narrative, these scientists are wholly wrong, and in fact so wrong there is no room for discussion…

The Paris Madone and Royal Belgian Observatories ( - two of Europes longest established astronomical establishments, with hundreds of years of data collected, there are several others I could have also suggested) meanwhile agree that the rate of the decline in Sunspot activity is markedly greater now than in all previous Solar Cycles of the past century and the present. This is entirely in accord with Zharkova’s predictions and modelling, based upon observations and testing of her and her contemporaries’ hypothesis. — All tosh and balderdash, according to the real deniers of the ever changing climate…

In short, all the scientific evidence points in the same direction, ie AWAY from the proposal as espoused by the BBC - a body who have unanimously declared that ‘for climate change, the science is settled’ and won’t even countenance debate on the subject matter, so sure they are of their stance, thereby denying any other views or evidence to be aired. Reminiscent of the Goebbels playbook. And thus, the subject is declared closed.

One of us is going to look pretty stupid a few years hence.

Then take me up on my offer?

Indeed Shakey, now look at the evidence for same. It’s all waiting for you, and not just the biblical description.

About 22 minutes in and beyond for the aspect that you are interested in, below ( the wave and subsequent flood). Great what 47 years of patient research into earnest research of others can uncover, Doug wasn’t a boffin, much less a star graduate of climate (pseudo)science, just an accountant but with an enquiring mind. The US government changed tack after splurging countless billions of dollars on their counter strategy (- why would they even do this if it’s all nonsense) some three weeks after he pointed out the monumental error they had made (- why would they do that? Isn’t it all nonsense, as Mr String fellow claims it to be? They should have him re-educating them!). Their initial response to his findings was not “you are nuts”, but rather “How did you figure it all out?” - they’d been trying to piece it all together also, for years.

Of course if you like or prefer red herrings, then simply ignore all the evidence and stop burning stuff that makes CO2, give all your hard earned to Ed Miliband and his merry men, and all will be well!

Some pictures from the long destroyed ancient site of Tanis, Egypt (begins around 1:11 in):

By the way, the last time the world changed direction of spin (see Nr 173 again) ‘the wave’ came from the direction of China, so there was an awful lot of land for it to cross before it got here, and the devastation was not quite on the same level, but the incoming one will be from the West, ie the Atlantic..

Next time you’re up North, consider the hilltops of Scotland which today exhibit rocks melted together ( at least 35 known outcrops currently exposed), and note their aspect: ask yourself, how did those ‘clever Picts’ melt the rocks together all from the same direction, all at the same time, without WhatsApp or Facebook to co-ordinate the whole show, and weren’t they supposed to be warring tribes anyway? 🤔😆😊

A glimmer of light, at last, or is it at first?

Im not going to watch the video, i dont believe the world stopped, started spining the wrong way, stopped again then resumed the normal direction.
If you beieve it great.
Are we responsable for gloabal warming, dont know, are we a factor probably, will it affect me probably, can i change it not really.
Will it cause massive problems for loads of people yes. Is solar and wind a good thing to harness yes i think it is.
You seem very sure you are listening to the correct people, have you got any evidence that doesnt rely on youtube?

@Freeforester you seem remarkably reluctant to stand behind your claims in a bet with me.

Maybe you don’t want to share a pint? Ok. I can get that.

So how’s about this.
The one who is wrong (and I wi let you define the specifics of the claims you make and the timescales, but broadly as you defined above) pays £100 into a charity of the other’s choosing.
My charity will be the MS Trust, as my wife has PPMS so furthering research into the condition is close to my heart.
In fact, even if I win, I will match your £100 with £100 to your charity.

Are you willing to put your money where your mouth is?

Solar does not work enough in winter. Wind turbines can't work if a threat of a gust above 40mph is possible. So pretty much a narrow window of operation.
Any threat of low wind or high wind the gas gen is operating, in fact it never stops as it would be to long to start up from a total shut down. Hence why you often see turbines not turning on an ideal day! That also means that when the turbines are turning the gas stations are still burning gas!
Wind turbines have no rotational mass. If the wind stops it's a black out. That doesn't happen because we are plugged into Europe. If they switch us off we will have black outs

Switching to so called renewables is actually threatening our security and lively hoods and lives. It will not alter the climate worth one ounce of ****!
It is not without good reason why banks and banks of diesel generators are being sited all over the country secretly encouraged by government, yes the same government structure that like to spout how fossil fuel is bad, they know the truth but their extortion racket has gotten out of control aided by the blind gullible fearsome masses.

Didnt say either would solve every problem.
I have solar, yes in winter its pretty pants, springs its better than not having it, summer its more than i need, autumn same as spring.
If i had a turbine most of the year id have more than enough electric.
I have low bills, to me that is a good thing.
No gas in the road. I got rid of an oil boiler and now have a heat pump, works a treat.
As a nation we will still need fossil fuels.
I used to make bio diesel, till my boss got me a van that wouldnt run on it. It was 35p a litre. I did it to save money not wear jute sandles.
I dont think im blind( well aside from both eyes being pants and having surgery so they looked in the same direction)

My my reply was not directed to you really, sorry. It's directed to the hypocrisy that is net zero.

Greenpeace describe carbon offsetting as "truly a scammer's dream scheme" and net zero is as bad, just designed to make politicians look good and multinational businesses reel in the profits.
