Would that be a SAK, best value mod for rimfires imo.I’m using a cheap mod that’s been on the 22 for 10 years and all I hear is the pin hitting the cartridge and the bang from the rabbits head. Subs and mods shouldn’t really hear much other then that
Indeed WB , a SAK …. Dont see any reason to change as I can’t think it could get any quieter .Would that be a SAK, best value mod for rimfires imo.

Contact wildcat, I’m sure .17 and .22 baffles are interchangeable for the panther.Good evening all,
I’m thinking of replacing my 17HMR with a 22LR due to wanting a quieter rabbiting rifle, I’m currently using a Wildcat panther on the 17.
What sound moderator would you recommend for best sound reduction on the 22 using subsonic ammo?
Sam
Agreed, SAK is cheap and light + effective. Always liked the look and spec of A-Tec mods but haven’t used one. Their rimfire model I think is called a Wave from memory. There's very little difference in sound level with any of the moderators designed for use with 22 subsonics
SAK is probably the cheapest and just as good as much more expensive models.
Don't be swayed by hyped up claims of special designs and materials.
A 22 subsonic round has very little powder in it so it doesn't take a large volume to handle the gas produced by firing.
Go down to your local RFD - he probably has loads of old moderators lying around so you should be able to pick one up for small money
Cheers

I have two a-tec mods. One is cmm4 and the other is wave, they’re completely different. The wave that’s made now is also different to my early wave, both of mine are good.Agreed, SAK is cheap and light + effective. Always liked the look and spec of A-Tec mods but haven’t used one.
