Best available powder for 6.5 Creedmoor

If by best you mean fastest, then I thought RL26 was excellent, 2820 with 139 Lapua, but you simply cant get it any more. I then got tipped off to RS70 and just tried it. OMG its amazing, 2914fps with the same 139 Lapua. (NB different barrels, think the first barrel was about 50-60 "slow)

Yes 6.5 creedmoor, 24" barrel, yes thats twenty nine hundred fps! No other creedmoor powder comes close. Drop tube required to get case fill, but NOT over pressure (although closon
On my last tub of rs62 and although very accurate cant seem to push any higher than 2700fps in a 24" barrell.
I will look to see if I can get my hands on some RS70

Have you had the loads pressure tested to know for sure?
Who does that?! No of course not. However I have run it through 3 simulators (QL, GRT and P-max) and all agree that its under max pressure (62.7k, 60.3k and 61.8k respectively). I have carefully examined the primer and cases as I built up to that level. I had other experienced club members check them on the day too, all agreed they looked fine. No heavy bolt lift. And it was a 24C day, so they will become lower pressures as it gets cooler. Seeing as they are fine now, I am happy to proceed

Small primer brass?

Wow 2900 + that’s some velocity, please to read it’s still safe👍
I’m happy with 2760 using Berger 130gr VLD T, n555 42.4 gr in Hornady cases. Nice mild load still supersonic at 1070. I’m happy with that 😁

I know, I was pretty amazed.

Sure, whatever works for you :) . If you want to go faster to fight crosswinds, you now have a viable option

Which is well known for masking pressure signs.

Chances are you’re over pressure and just don’t know it, no free lunches with reloading, if you’re getting higher velocity than everyone else you are doing it at higher pressure.
Thanks for telling me you know better than 3 respected physical modelling programs, and my actual results. You didnt provide your credentials or any evidence for your claims, but Im sure theyre exemplary...

I'm getting higher velocities because Im using a powder that no one else seems to be using in 6.5CM. Searches reveal more 6.5PRC people using it, but the one 6.5CM I have found says the same as me, RS70 is a great powder for 6.5CM giving great velocity Tikka T3x CTR 6.5CM 24" - How fast do you run your bullets? Oh found one other Bergara Premier Ridgeback You do you....

N555 here as well
Berger 130 VLD. 42.4GR
Lapua 136 Scenar L 42.5gr
both single digit sd
For what it’s worth VhitavourI don’t have any loads on their table for N140 at any weight above 139gr.
Take that for what it’s worth. I email over 12 months ago asking for load date on Hornady 140 ELD Mand never received a reply. Not that I’ve ever used them.
I have mailed them several times asking for 140grn loads--no response.

Reloader Swiss’ 140 gr RS70 data tops out at 2760 fps…..

What do the terms and conditions or the 3 respected theoretical modelling programmes say about relying on results?

You do you, but you can’t say it is under pressure because you simply do not know that. You suspect it but, you don’t know it so all you can say is no apparent pressure signs.

You are getting hugger velocities as a result of higher pressure, that’s how it works.

why not just send a couple to the proof house for pressure testing?

you'll have actual proof rather than feelings to see off the nay sayers thats got to be worth the effort surely?

Personal insults, excellent way to get your point across

As for no other creedmoor powder coming close to RS70, RL17/RS60 is quicker than your load with the same bullet in my rifle and Ramshot hunter is very close, with no apparent pressure signs.

Exactly this, especially if you're going to come on here extolling the virtues of your load.

funny story , i walked up on a known big head on the range once , you know the type i'm sure the kind that if you told him you had been run over by a bus he would have been run over by a double decker bus or your car does 80mph he'd have a mate with one that did 90 - you know the type i'm sure

anyway , his new 180gr 308 win load was doing 3000fps (alledgedly)out of his 20'' accuracy international (rem700 in a stock) quick as a flash i said thats great let me get my chrono out of my boot and we will check it as that is an astounding safe load for that gun so good in fact i am sure ammo manufacturers will want to know about it , what do you know he had to clear up and leave right then so sadly not enough time but next time for sure ! I asked a few times i saw him and he never had that ammo or rifle again and left the club after a short while

300 win mag performance from a 308 win , what a load !

i guess he is busy inventing a rounder wheel ?
