Bino Harness Recommendations

Marsupial

I know other excellent brands have been mentioned but I have marsupial harness / holder and it really is superb

Perfect size without being unwieldy

Lots of ajustment “for the larger chap,,,,”

Magnetic silent catch for the bino compartment

Very good to deal with even though based in US

Hi Ronin,

Good to hear a positive review of the Marsupial Gear.

I’m looking to purchase from them soon. I like the Fly Fishing Pack they do too.

Thanks Dan

One thing about magnetic closures, some people may not get on with them too well if they have a pacemaker and are in close proximity with rare earth magnets...

Well I just had to try the Alaska guide on to make sure that I could see my feet !!!
Yes I could,
I have a Red Kettle Spartan holder attached to it and a first aid kit in the bottom pouch, spare knife and multi tool in one of the pouches and a dragging line and flashing beacon in the other and the phone sits in the back pouch.
Binos in the main compartment and no problems.
Shooting prone and it doesn’t get in the way.
Yes I know that we are all shaped differently, but just thought that I would put the point across

Have a decent large pocket on your stalking jacket / smock. I have a kangaroo pouch in my Bergan smock - perfect for the binoculars and takes the weight completely off your kneck. Even better was my older snowsled smock which had a zip down to middle and a large pocket either side which would take a pair of binoculars. In summer I wear binoculars with a long sling diagonally across my body so they can swing behind.

Skinny folk need not comment lol

I have an AGC and like it. Yes I can see my feet 🤣!!!!!

There is a degree of truth in the prone position argument, especially as mine is crammed with gear, I could probably empty the front pocket and negate that. I have dropped it off in the last few dozen yards of a crawl, which wasn’t a big issue. I only stalk the hill a dozen times a year so it’s not a deal breaker.

I’d look at a marsupial if I were buying now but I don’t feel inclined to change. My guess if you’ll get more kit into an AGC, so maybe better for woodland stalking whereas marsupial would be better for the hill where you take most shots prone, crawl a lot and take a day pack/vorn.
