Bisley meet?

Just gauging interest whether anyone would be interested in a Bisley/SE England stalkers meet & range day sometime?

If there was enough interest, would probably have to plan well ahead to get hold of some of the facilities there, (or maybe one of the other nearby ranges) and set it up as a bit of a stalkers shoot, plus some social etc?

On the face of it a cracking idea but are you up for organsing it as in Range Conducting and sorting out all the paperwork the NRA requires?

Cheers

I'd be up for a day on Century - Book a few lanes, and fall back from 100-300 in the morning, then 400-600 for the afternoon...

Ever tired the gopher at 600 off sticks? Haha, the MOD would have a FIT!!!

I'll have a word with our clubs RCO about some idea's

As I say, there's a few other ranges in the area too (that aren't quite as well, er, 'bisley' as bisley ;) ) and I might have another iron in the fire, but wanted to gauge interest to see whether it was worth going to the hassle of.

I don’t wish to dampen anyone’s enthusiasm for this but as alluded to in my first reply there are issues to be considered here and especially if this is being billed as a “Stalking Directory South East England Shoot” as I’m sure someone from site staff will point out?

Competency certificates is a good start but far from the only consideration.

Even if simply a labrat organised shoot, restricted to SD members, someone qualified has to sign for the firing point and target and as RCO will thereafter be responsible for it and what takes place there.

I'm not quite sure how you are looking at this Labrat but it's not possible for a group of individuals to hire a MOD range, only approved clubs. Any private range would also be reluctant to hire out their range to a group of individuals, and quite rightly so. That is unless they were running the show and carefully controlling the situation in effect you would all be shooting as guests of that club/range.

Any bookings at Bisley would have to be either as individual members of the NRA or as members of a NRA affiliated club and the secretary of the club would have to make the booking on behalf of its club members.

Yes, have had a brief chat with our club sec and he thinks it would be possible as a club event, at either Bisley or one of the other ranges, and apparently if under direct under RCO supervision the SCC problem is covered and club guests are ok.

As I say, it was an initial enquiry to gauge interest - I'll sit down and see if we can work something out, have a chat with the club committee etc.

RCO courses arent too bad, I think BASC run them? And what would be stopping 5 guys sharing a lane or 20 guys sharing 4 lanes if they are all NRA members and have competancy cards dont see it being a problem.

If everyone is a memebr of the NRA then yes a group of individuals can hire a lane. A few of us locally hire a lane at least once a month.

If shooting with a club then the way around it is to make everyone day members/guests. However, everyone must have a competency card/safe shooter certificate or whatever you want to call it.

NRA safe shooting scheme rules state that:

"If you are signing in as the RCO for a group booking you will find that the certificate at the top of the signing-in form has been amended to include a statement by you, the RCO, that every member of the group for you will be responsible either has his/her own card or will be coached, on a one-to-one basis, by the holder of such a card. The responsibility rests with the RCO to confirm that every member of his/her group complies with one or the other of these two conditions."

I could assist there.

It's sometimes the case in life that it's not What you know... :)

I'm sure we have a goodly amount of NRA RCO's amongst the membership as well.
