Is that right that the fc are only pursuing them during the day? They've done well to get those numbers then. You'd have thought with most people on the surrounding private ground mainly shooting at night they'd have been doing likewise.

Any particular reason why they don't shoot at night? They seem happy enough to use the lamp north of the border.

...... because it is a very controversial topic around these parts, hence the FC have a self imposed a season and don't shoot at night........ allegedly............

They say it's to do with the amount of public in the forest at night which makes it unsafe but according to the bylaws for the forest they can close down any part of the forest to carry out any works they need to do.

I think their main problem is that they operate under DPE which makes them responsible for enforcing on street parking and nothing to do with the Police, this would mean they would have to confront anyone parking after dark, (which is not allowed per the bylaws) and it's not their policy to be confrontational with members of the public.

They are taking on two extra rangers to try and get their numbers but I can't see that happening if they purely only shoot during daylight hours and extra shooting will just push them further into areas of high public occupancy (housing estates) where they have easy pickings and are relatively safe from f.c staff.

Surely the footfall is higher in daytime than night time, or do you Have to make your own entertainment around that way in the dark nights
