Bolt holders

Bolt holder I have always keep my bolts in traditional bolt holders .
Ether leather or the sheepskin canvas ones no problem but always have taken up space and awkward to store .
So I had so spare magnets and came up with these .

is there any down side to storing the bolts like this
Or would I be better off putting them back in the original bolt cover/holders

Any feedback would be welcome

I had bad results with belt bolt holder things, imprints on the bolt from damp use., would have resulted in rust if I hadn't seen developments., but for in dry air situations these look ok for those who separate their bolts from firearms.

If the holder holes were oversize and VP90 or similar was used in the cabinet, I don't think you'll have any issues :-|
Hi yes the bolt it self and three out of the four are18 mm and the plastic holders are 19-21 pipe holders .
The hmr bolt is slightly bigger but flatter on one side so still has some wiggle room

The biggest worry i have with anything of weight in the cabinet is with items dropping onto rifle scopes.

I keep my bolts in a little safe, picking out the right one of the 14 is a nightmare. This looks great. I’ll ask one of the lads in work to 3D print me a labelled rack to attach to the door.

I bet it was 😂 I can vouch for the female rubbing coated magnets from amazon I did the same with a mod holder too which was originally sold as a 3d silicone holder and made the smaller one to fit my hmr mod 👍🏻

Why not save a whole lot of hassle by leaving the bolts in their respective rifles?

I don't know about you, but when I’m heading out stalking I want to be able to simply "grab and go".
Hmm not really thought about that that would it not be frowned upon
I know theirs not much difference in or out in the same area ie safe . But once you leave the house with the bolt in the rifle
If you had a accident or other

Best bolt holder as soon as the rifle cmes out of the cabinet is the rifle's receiver. The good folk that made the rifle were good enough to make a bolt for it that fits it perfectly. In the cabinet the bolt gets taken out and stored with the s1 ammunition with the rifle stored in a cabinet separate form that ammunition and so, by default, the bolt. Once upon a time I had control of maybe one hundred rifles. The bolts for those were stored vertically, in a wooden box. twenty-five bolts to a box. So four boxes. The top of the box was wood drilled with one inch holes. One hole...one bolt. Each hole numbered 1-100 and each rifle numbered in paint, 1-100 on the butt.

I have three gun safes, the rifles simply don’t fit in if they have their bolts in. I would have a fourth gun safe and make life easier but the gun room is full. I don’t know how I ended up with so many guns 🙈

Never taken the bolts out of my guns in the safes never will
had a mate go stalking years ago with no bolt

Too me in away leaving the bolt in your rifle is similar to leaving your moderator on your rifle when stored inside your cabinet .
And always take it out when leaving my permissions to ensure the rifle isn’t loaded
Interested in other options

I wouldn't store a rifle with the mod on. I've seen what that can do.

If the bolt is stored in the rifle in the open position then air can still circulate through the action and barrel, so the risk of moisture entrapment is minimal.
