Boots have finally given up - replacements?

Just purchased a pair of Harkila's and I'll get back with an honest review after giving em a good lot of outings over the bog's & hills in Ireland they'll get plenty of use as I get through a pair of Altbergs in one season 🙃

Really pleased with my Crispis, and I'm super picky - meindl/harkila/brandeccosse have all failed me.

Can only go on what I've had over the years.
Harkila lasted 6 month
Hanwag lasted 5 years
Bestard lasted 1 1/2 years
So going by this, I'll be having another pair of hanwags

Take your pick from Danner...... I have the "Grouse" now 12 years old and still going strong, also a pair of the "Elk Hunters", very comfortable for summer stalking wear.

I bought some Meindl boots in 2010 for tahr hunting in NZ, as they were the favorite with dudes who did that. They have been good enough and the Gore-Tex linings certainly work - but I wonder about their ultimate reliability.

I went buffalo hunting in our Northern Territory in 2019. My American mate had brought over some Meindls he'd outgrown and gave them to our host, who put them on and walked out in the bush. A few minutes later the outer sole came right off one boot. No worries, Dom said and kept going, a bit lopsidedly. Twenty minutes later the other sole came off, too.

This month I was out deer hunting in very wet weather when the front of one of my Meindl soles came unstuck. I strapped it up with electrical tape and started back towards the car. However, not 10 minutes later, the other sole came off as well.

Though everything wears out eventually, and funny things happen in the Jung-le :), I'm amazed at the Meindls' synchronicity.

I’m a fan of kenetrek great for knackerd old feet

Not sure they take a crampon but I’ve had six years out of my last pair and just bought another.

Tyson’s are great to deal with too!

My, they've shot up in price! Good boots though. :thumb:

If you like the height/weight and fit of the lowa mountain boot then i suggest you have a peak at the mod issue iturri cold wet weather boots.I wear both at work and find both makes very similar in fit and comfort.

Another wearing hanwag tatra top. But they won't take a crampon if that is is what you are doing. I'd certainly look at their line of boots that will work.
I've walked miles in mine. They are so comfy.

I use brandecosse boots now love them I used to be a meindl man but find brandecosse a better boot hardly any wear needed to make them feel like they are few years old straight out the box
