Boretch eliminator does nothing

Looks like it’s done its job and dried to the rifling I have used it for years and always had amazing results I use it is I get some stubborn stuff that don’t want to come out my go to is wipe out patch out I would try soaking it again then maybe a little bit of iosso bore paste

I set about cleaning one of my .308’s - a range gun that’s had about 1- 2K of target and tracer ammo down it and never had a proper clean. Used the Eliminator which unveiled thick copper streaks in the rifling at the muzzle. Got in there with the copper remover and got rid of the copper after about 5 cycles of 5 x patch / 15 strokes back and forth of a nylon brush (have bore guide to stop splash back into the action). Brilliant stuff!

If the solvent is doing nothing why has the copper turned blue? Presumably the copper metal is now copper sulphate which can be removed…. Perhaps the barrel is so badly copper fouled that it will take more time to get back to steel.
I must admit I too use the Boretech carbon followed by Boretech Cu2 and it seems to work as described.

Hi all, running out of the KG decided to try Boretech eliminator and for better value bought a large bottle. The problem is that it does absolutely nothing more than any "liquid". After roughly 400 rounds my 22-250 was in need of deep clean and after half a day of soaking and scrubbing with nylon brush result was almost zero effect (sure will be better if using Kroil only).
Next I've decided to clean my 6.5 before start to work a load for it it's new rifle fired couple boxes of factory ammo. And here I saw something for first time -the bore looks blue . Soaked about half a dozen of patches with Boretech and they comes out clean except first two with very little black residue on them even after left it soaked for 20 mins or so. Does anyone else have had bad experience with this solvent and do you know why the bore is blue coloured???

Blue indicates copper fowling ( the fluid is doing its job indicated by the blue staining ) however you have a very big job on if you have 400 rounds without a proper clean the passage after that neglect !
Half cleaning isn't going to do the job and you will need to tackle hard carbon , copper , burnt powder residues and likely some corrosion in the bore from trapped moisture when you do break through to the final layer.
Long soaking in the specific copper remover . Also the specific Carbon cleaner and a copper brush . JB paste (which has pumice added) this should be used frequently right through the cleaning process , intermittently.
You have various different things in your bore ! One std cleaner wont work through a clean like this . I would btw take the action out of the stock on this kind of clean , have a protective mat under the cradle ( if you haven't got one , improvise or buy one and use a bore guide because it protects the chamber and keeps all those solvents out of places you don't want it)
Boretech is a brilliant range of products ( you will need them all ) but yours will 100% require some JB paste also through the process of layers ( use a copper brush rap it in a patch , making sure you can still push it up and pull it back ) Don't let it pop to far out the muzzle or out the rear .
