Browning 525 game tradition

Hi all I was wondering if anyone has got a browning 525 game tradition?
I’m currently shooting a beretta Silver Pigeon 5 30” barrel but I feel that I shot better with my 28” SP1.
I love the wood and style of the Silver Pigeon 5 and was thinking about a change to a browning 525 game tradition.
Anyone got any thoughts/advice?

More practice on gun mount/swing...Both my pigeon and marsh gun are the same lop/cast just the 3" is a few oz's heavier.
This sounds like when women buy a dress then take it back because they think it won't fit

but I am sure other advice will follow.

I’ve a 20 gauge 30” m/c 525 prestige sitting here !!! It’s going to be going ( only fired 50 shots since new )

Tim you are probably right.
I have spent a lot of time practicing gun mount and realise why/what I was doing wrong and why I was getting hit in the face.
I just seemed to shoot better with a 28”barrels but maybe it’s just in my head.
I’m going to do more clay shooting over the next few months and see how I develop. I will also have a couple of lessons

I still think that some people are Beretta shaped and some Browning shaped. Shoot the one that fits you best. In my own (admittedly rubbish)opinion the fit is far more important than the barrel length.. Try both and decide they are both good reliable makes.

Mount the gun with your eyes closed. The moment you open your eyes, note how much top rib you're seeing. Any more than about the thickness of a 50p coin, and it's likely the gun is too high in the comb for you. Longer barrels will accentuate you shooting high if that's the case.
A good friend suffered same as you describe with his SP V, and shot better with his old 687 sporter which had 28" barrels. Comb height adjusted by good gunsmith, now no issues with poor kill rate and a sore face 😃
I'm most definitely a Browning fit, but even the game guns tend to show me a sliver too much rib unless I really get the mount tucked in. Beretta game guns I can get away with 28", but on some I see far too much rib, beyond what I could compensate for by shooting low.

The best money I've spent on anything relating to shotguns was a gunfitting session with Alan Rose at West London Shooting School. I was then able to have my Browning 525 altered for LOP, comb height and cast.....it transformed my shooting.

I have had my gun fitted.
I will get fit checked and also have a couple of lessons as maybe I have a bad habit.
It’s not hitting me in the face now as I was just not mounting it constantly.
It’s probably more me not having done enough shooting the last couple of years.
Might just be confidence in the gun?
I need to just shoot more!

So tonight I went on a flight pond and shot 4 teal for 7 shots. Killed the first 3 missed a couple and then killed another and hit one that came down a long way off. I seemed to shoot well. Odd that in the open and good light I had a bad day then little bullets buzzing by in almost darkness and I’m on them!
Funny old game this shooting 😄

Would be a great gun but I’m only ever going to buy a gun I see as I’ve been bitten before. Not saying you or your gun is faulty.
