BSA CF2 trigger creep

My deer rifle is a 308 BSA CF2 with the double "set" trigger. I used to struggle with the normal trigger but to be fair i never got it fettled. For the last few years i have used the set ( hair) trigger. Absolutely brilliant but you have to have your wits about you. Only engage it before just ready for the shot. Dont put your finger anywhere near the trigger until ready for the shot.
If the shot isnt taken for whatever reason then carefully open the bolt and the live round and fire of the set trigger with the bolt open. Otherwise you are walking around with a UXB..
Can you not put the safety on , point in a safe direction and then trip the set trigger? I'm sure that is what I did.

Regarding neutralising the set trigger, I must have found the info somewhere regarding opening the bolt but i cant remember the source of that info.
I will see what i can find. Thanks Smellydog.

Just found the serial number / dating thing. 1972-74. Not sure anyone will be messing g about with the accutrigger on my savage in 50 years time.

I found a post on this forum from 2020 where someone posted the cf2 instructions and it says to open the bolt fully before firing of the trigger.

I need to buy some imperial Allen keys too…
Chinese metric ones will work!
So I’ve got my cheap 270. And it was cheap. A BSA 270 and even with scope rings and a scope. It shoots fine. Will be 1”.

The trigger is not like a husqvarna trigger though!. It’s got loads of travel before it goes tight to then squeeze it. I think this is described as creep.

Is there any fixing it? Or is that the way they are. It isn’t impossible to live with. But it could be better.

Thanks British CF experts.
Best way to fix is to chop it in for something less worse (once the trigger starts to go wrong, they get a bit ‘unpredictable’ IME). 😊

It’s all good. Just needed an Allen key twiddle. Once the sear is engaged it snaps. But thank you!

Is it not like other set triggers where you apply the safety and pull the trigger to release/disengage of shot isn’t taken?

Items 22&23 might be seized.

Can anyone help with how to remove item 24? I think that is what holds in the ejector and extractor spring. I’m convinced now the extractor spring needs replacing.

It’s a hollow type of pin that can’t be driven through because there isn’t a corresponding hole the other side. Are you supposed to pull them out somehow? Thank you

Don't know sorry but some designs have the extractor hooked in place only. Depressing the spring and plunger sometimes facilitates the unhooking of the extractor.

You are right. I discovered this sitting on the bog thinking about it and fiddling with it. The extractor pinged out. It works a bit more frequently as it should now cleaned and reassembled. New spring required I think.

Thank you

Thanks everyone all sorted now with a strong ejector and pecar 8x45
First lot of ammo from the shelf in 45mph winds
Very much minute of deer I’m sure everything could be tightened up but for a 50yr old shooter and scope at a minimal price I’m v happy
