Bullet drop for a 6.5 x 55

i used to shoot thoes 140 grain... but now home load 95 grain v-max and they are 1" high @100 yards and spot on @200 yards they are great for fox and ok if you head or neck shoot deer...

How much of the loopy characteristics have people been able to dial out with reloading?

I wouldn't be surprised if the Federal ammo is loaded to relatively low pressures to prevent old Mausers from disintegrating.
I have worked up the 120gn Nosler BT to over 3100fps with good accuracy, so it should be a little flatter than Andy's figures above. I suspect that this is probably at the very top end of 6.5x55 performance and is well beyond published data.

Yep. Mine were 2960 fps but like you I have been over 3000 fps with 120g bullets. Accuracy was good but meat damage unacceptable so am now at 2920 fps.

I found this the best velocity in my rifle for accuracy and minimal meat damage and is kind on the barrel ,plenty flat enough for me as after 250 it's much easier to dial in anyway

Yep you were right ! 2 + years on and my deer load is 140g bullet at 2750 fps .
