Bullet heads

They're not "bullet heads" or "heads", they're bullets.
Even TSD is becoming infected with this ridiculous & inaccurate description, along with a lot of retailers who should know better.
Please can we revert to using the correct terminology, as this isn't Facebook or Tw*tter.

Take heed you don't blow a head gasket...I have come to the conclusion that the perpetrators of this vile assault upon our senses are thick-skinned, bullet-headed characters who know it is inappropriate, but just enjoy winding people up.

It has been mentioned once or twice on here over the last few years... :)

Cut us newbies some slack odders, I'm new to reloading and have made the mistake with the incorrect terminology.
Most of the reason i joined the SD was to learn from those in the know.
I was thoroughly reprimanded and put straight.......lesson learnt.......every day is a school day.

Yes every day is school day here but it's not every day that "Teacher Odders" sends you to the naughty corner!
Some times you just have to bite the bullet - Or is it the head?

An odd thing, too, is a cartridge case! For its mouth, its neck and its shoulders are at the top of it but its head is at the bottom of it.

In the mainstream media they are always "casings" rather than cases. Where do these odd terms originate ?

It is quite amazing, having read some posts today, why on earth do some folk still refer to bullets..... as "bullet heads"

Patrick

I sometimes do it. Not that I don't know better, it's just a bit infectious. In the same way I sometimes refer to a FAC as a "ticket" which is something that set my teeth on edge the first time I heard it.

And everytime I say "where's that?" to someone, I mentally add "to" at the end due to spending too long in Somerset.

HALLELUJAH Odders!

100% agreed.Projectiles have never been called 'heads' here and it doesn't seem right to me either.

Lazy journalists usually - quick to show shooting in a negative light but too damn' lazy to become even basically educated regarding firearms & the correct terms to use when writing/talking about them.

Perhaps it could be put in the agreement when signing up as a forum member that the correct terminology is bullet and is to be used. Then anyone subsequently using the offensive & incorrect terminology could be flagged up & asked to make a £10 donation to H4H. Should raise some funds for a good cause! Just an idea.....

If someone says they're selling 100 bullet heads, we all know what they mean. Yet some folk feel a need to be pedantic or show their superiority.

It's a harmless and widespread misuse of terminology that would only cause a problem if some actually needed some cartridge case heads.

Just my humble view.:tiphat:
