Caldwell Ballistic Precision Chronograph

brought the above chrono for not a lot of money of another forum unfortunately it didn't have the 16ft of cable that attaches to a smart phone 3.5mm TRRS for pole jack plug. i have the caldwell free app on my iPhone so looking to get a cable to connect it all up tried ebay only found short lengths. my question is anyone know were i get an original cable from. i emailed the manufactures in the states but know reply.could just use it with out but doesn't store any data any info would be great thanks in advance. SS

It’s just a standard “audio” cable. You should be able to source on internet.

Just looked and Clas Ohlson offer a 5M one for £8

thanks for that Stan had a look it needs to be a 4 pole TRRS jack plug only list 2 pole stereo jack appreciate the heads up. SS

Audio 4p serial cable is flaky, best results with a usb cable.

agree the usb port on the chrono if for factory programming only so won't work thanks for the reply. SS

Glad you know better, you had better tell my unit then. I only use the usb port for connection to phone. (Late phone s-ware had the usb enabled)

no i don't know better obviously just going on what the manual said apart from that thanks very much most enlightening and as you say a much better option i new someone would come good on SD should be much easier to source a USB cable i appreciate the input.

The 'audio' serial connection is next to useless. Don't forget for usb on smartphone you will probably need a OTG adapter cable.

When I first got this chrono (couple years ago) the 'audio' connection was utterly hit and miss, mostly miss. I had many conversations with the developer at the time, in the end s-ware was updated to use the usb connection which worked instantly and every time. I mostly use the magnetospeed nowadays and use the Caldwell in the back yard for bow and airgun.
