Calibre for foxes in wind

Going off tracks in the pitch black dark when you can’t even see an outstretched hand in front of you is just dangerous, especially when you are miles away from anyone or anything. The wind in such places makes things tricky. If you have only dealt with lowland areas I can totally appreciate your comments but shooting stuff in these environments in the dark and in the wind is not straightforward and any gain can help, hence why I posted to see what others dealing with the same conditions are doing. There have been some really useful posts too, I expect from those who have tackled similar ground and encountered similar problems.

I think doing the shooting in the conditions you hunt in would prove educational. take notes on wind speed, wind value. I would definitely go to the 39 grn Sierra or 40 Vmax in the.204. So far as the 22-250 the 55grn Sierra blitz king has a nice boattail and good bc. The light weight 58grn in 243 will probably drift more due to low bc.

If you are able to spin them fast enough, try Hornadys ELD-VT. A varmint bullet similar to the V-Max but with the slippery characteristics of the ELD match bullet. I believe they do it in .22, 6mm, 6.5mm and .30.

I think that projectile needs a 1-8 twist to stabilize. Another option is the 52grn ELDM those do fine in a 1-14 twist at least at 22-250 velocity's.

I am looking for a calibre for shooting foxes with on windy hill ground. Most shots are 200 + yards. My 204 snd 22-250 are struggling. I’ve got to either learn to deal with it better or find something that handles it a bit better. Any ideas?
What weight of bullet are you shooting in your 22-250?

I run a 6mm PRC PRIMAL 70G just under 4000 flatter than a witches TIT, I ain't bothered about barrel life, first on left , if its windy I can feed them the 110g Atip at 3400 2nd from left ,does good in the wind👍
I was wondering if such a thing as a 6mm PRC existed!

Who built this and what brass do you use?

What’s the barrel length?

Lapua 6.5 PRC BRASS , MIK MAK ,24.5 Reamer was sourced by me off Orken at primal rights in America, I did try the 55g @ 4300 -
4400 but accuracy wasn't there .

only for Fox Hunting, also a 6mm Calibre, .243 with a faster twist, 6XC or 6mm Creedmoor with a 108grain Horandy ELD-Match. A universal Load with 103gr ELD-X.
