Can SA(B)90 be used to run civillian rifles ranges?

I hold a valid SA(B)90 RCO qualification, will this allow me to act as an RCO on civilian ranges and military ranges being used by a civilian club or organisation?

Also will it equally allow me to act as a safety supervisor?

Finally, does this qualification mean that I will not need to complete an MOD Competence Course in order to shoot on military ranges.

Regards,

Gary

I would check with the NRA. You can convert your qualification to one of their RCO qualifications for about £30. You could run a private range as anybody could but may fall foul of insurance requirements. As to the competence certificate your club can issue one if they are happy with you and could probably appoint you as an RCO or RSO. There may of course be other opinions.

As Jagdmatch says probably best to convert,
I converted mine, sent a JPA printout with NRA application, costs about £40, detail on NRA website under RCO conversion.

Thanks for the replies guys. I will look into the conversion route with the NRA.

Update: I have spoken to the NRA and they can convert my qualification for £39 although I need to be a member of a Home Office Approved Club (for being a member of BASC fulfils this requirement). I do not need to join the NRA which is a bonus.

However I can still RCO on civilian range days on MoD Ranges with me SA(B)90 with the need to convert my qual. The conversion is only needed to run ranges on non-MoD land.
