Car breakdown with rifle

Back in the dear dead days, I walked into a gun dealers in Chelmsford, clutching my newly minted FAC, and walked out 15 mins later back through town to the car park with a Browning 9mm Hi-Power (Canadian police version) in a brown paper bag, plus 50rds of 9mm ammunition.......and incidentally, all for the princely sum of £75...

Would that of been back in the day when Leeches were in Tindal square in the middle of town

Was it Frank Pool from Hollands who took that over; back in the Eighties maybe?
I'm not sure of all the names but I believe it was taken over around that time and eventually they moved out to Boreham. Tim243 will probably know a lot more

At that time I'd be straight in a taxi and home to bed. I'd go back and sort the Landy in the morning!

With the rifle in the slip and with good reason to be in the position you were in, any form of public transport or walking with it is acceptable. I usually look at it from the angle of what the police would want me to do. Leave it in the truck? No. So I have to take it with me then. Sorted.

Had a car crash with around 15 pistols and a few k of ammo in the 80's! I just let the police take it and I collected it a few days later .
Your not in the wrong nor is it an offence as long as all you have is what you are allowed to have.
But as the woke now run the UK and common sense isn't so common anymore 🙄
I could be totally wrong?

Slightly off topic but a friend and I were driving through my home town at about 2am heading to another permission to continue lamping foxes. This was in the 80s, we were stopped by a couple of bobbies in a panda. No big deal, that asked where we were going etc. then requested a look in the boot. Upon opening this they found 4 rifles. One of them then reached in and picked one up asking “is it loaded?” I have no idea I replied, what do you mean he said. I responded with you, have picked it up it is your responsibility to check it is safe. He said fair enough, put it back and then said take care lads and off we went.

Someone In previous post said words to effect of “ public place your perfectly legal “
Is it not some train companies don’t allow firearms ?
I remember pinemartin hiding hos in a takedown case not a visible “slip”
Off topic but I wondered

As for land rover …. Colleague bought a brand new Range Rover wee while back and gearbox blew up at 49,000 miles from new
The person at dealers he spoke to trying to talk him out of warranty claim saying he did good getting 49,000miles!!!…. My colleagues response was “f&@k off go get branch manager I’m not dealing with this walloper anymore 😂
