Hi guys
What are people using for chillers, I’ve got a williams fridge at the moment which can fit 2 fallow in but it keeps packing up and don’t want to keep pumping money into it, what are people using with out breaking the bank? I either buy another fridge or invest in a walk in chiller as I have to room but would have to be out side, just seeing what other people are using so a can gather some ideas.

Chillers are like gun cabinets: Get the biggest you have room for / can afford. You won't regret it.

I looked at those at the game fair, really smart bit of kit but slightly out of my price range
You probably looked at this one then as it was on display at the game fair before being brought down to the farm on the Monday! Long story but power supply to old larder was a bit ‘iffy’ so SSE have brought a new dedicated supply in to this one so instead of piggy backing off the supply to the farm it now needs a meter of its own which is taking an absolute age to get installed.

I Use a modified catering fridge as above, picked this one up for £450, bit rough n ready, but has been well maintained, made and fitted rail and modified asymmetric S hooks, holds 6 fallow comfortably, 8 as a bit of a squeeze. Full size animals are just off the flat or, I use a large greenhouse watering tray to catch blood n drips, not too difficult to load or unload. Removed wheels for ease of access and reduce height.

Be carefull of Grim fridges the controllers are suspect, and if you want to replace it they cost £480, but you can change them for an aftermarket one.

Lol yes, was needed, keep the Hotpoint alongside for daily use too, saves running the big one as eats electricity by comparison.

I looking into this, controllers are not that bad, think this one is under £ 200 new, but grabbed a spare from a scrapper when I got it.

It comes in 2 pieces for a total of £480, with my luck if I bought one piece it would be the other one that would be broken, I have 2 in my workshop both with replacement controllers that cost around £50 each

Does anyone use a commercial drinks fridge eg. Coca Cola - for chilling smaller deer ? Looking at used ones on eBay- always plenty for sale around £500.

I've been using one for the last three years, for Sika & Fallow, it's a double door. Works fine.

That sounds like a lot of money! I'm sure they go for less money than that if you can find one local on Marketplace or Gumtree if someone is refitting a shop.

I've had a couple of drinks chillers in the past, I didn't pay anything for either of them. My walk in larder only cost £500 from the owner of a defunct takeaway, there are usually plenty of them for sale on Marketplace. I've added fittings, basin, workbench etc at minimal cost and a fancy custom rail system that was grant funded.
