Fridge conversion advice

Hi all. Am thinking of converting a tall fridge to hang deer - will be mix of roe and fallow, one at a time. Most of the fridges I have seen cheap are about 165-175cm tall and 60cm deep and wide; will that be big enough?

Also, how do people hoist the deer up into the fridge (ie those that are too heavy to lift)? I guess running a cable from the hoist over the bar I will put in the fridge, hoisting the deer up and then switching from the gambrel/hook to a hook on the bar (poss putting hook in aiche bone) - then reversing the process when I need to get it out to skin it etc?

Many thanks

6ft by 2ft should be plenty big enough. If you get a heavy one it'll should only be a matter of using a couple of upturned crates to help you.

Try to get a larder fridge that is 180 cm tall or more. I'm 5ft 9" and have no problem lifting roe or sika hinds on to the bar

If you have headroom, hoist outside fridge as close to front as you can. Once you’ve got it above where you need then easy to lower / manhandle down onto rail / hook etc.

Have a look at this thread too: Chiller rails

I’ve got a load of offset s-hooks - ideal for hanging from the aitch bone and saves a lot of headroom. Other, more complicated, solutions are available 🤣 PM me once you get set up and I can post you one to try.
