Hi all,
We had a whisky (not whiskey!
) thread on here a while ago so I thought why not talk about the other half of a classic paring?
Had my first cigar with the head of security of a US embassy somewhere in Asia, specifically remember when he announced with glee 'We can't get these back home!' (before Obama changed things and Trump ruined it again!) and produced a case of Cuban's from his humidor (Montecristo's I think). Suddenly realising that smoking a largish cigar is equivalent to several cigarettes worth of nicotine when you stand up is something else!
I don't have the money or desire to chain smoke the top tier cigars (I'm talking in excess of £100 a pop) on a regular/daily basis. I have met a few that do so in passing and personally think they are more often than not deliberately wasting them to show off.
Have developed a real fondness for the Cohiba Shorts which are handy and really quite nice for a short smoke as I rarely have the time, money or occasion to enjoy a proper cigar.
I think the New World cigars are on average outclassing the average Cubans apart from the more expensive ones which still get the top pick of tobacco (from my limited experience).
When introducing someone to cigars I always say, don't buy any unless you are willing to spend! Nothing worse than a crap cigar!
All smoking is bad for your health (just like most enjoyable things!) but just like anything else, once in a while is fine! (I don't smoke otherwise)
Anyone else?
