There are 5 slots on the FAC application/renewal form which got me thinking what if someone has more than 5 convictions where would you put the info?.........say for example someone has been driving for 30, 40 years and have accumulated multiple minor sp30 convictions?

While accepting this is a hypothetical question, an SP30 isn't a conviction.
Accrue as many as you like as they don't need to be declared at all.

I just write, "Please refer to your own records" then explain how im hardly going to remember times and date of any previous convictions, never had any problems that way
like they dont check anyway
This is more or less what I do. Declare I’ve been driving for over forty years and don’t remember them all, have a stab at one or two and say there has been at least five.
In the extra info box, not the convictions boxes

Dont do any of the above unless you want to be prosecuted for failing to disclose. Use the blank page to add extra convictions. Re the date try your best submit an approximate. Or if you have a few from years back submit an access request via the acro procedure. Standard Dbs check doesnt show all convictions so avoid. The convictions section is mainly an integrity test the fld have youre comvictions its upto you to disclose.
what a load of crap, why go to all the bother to find out what they already know, and as in integrity test then if you miss something they can turn round and say you lied, my way cuts that out, and i cant be prosecuted for saying nothing, and i did disclose, i disclosed they should look for them selfs, 1 application and 3 renewals and not a word has ever been said

Tell that to the certificate holders who have been prosecuted issued with warnings or given other out of court disposals. You need to read the question. Ive dealt with folk like you who come out with all the excuses trying to be clever. ive then seen cert holders refused or revoked and the subsequent consquences that entails. Some fld are more stringet than others so you are lucky. So if you want to put youre certificate at risk carry on with your approach.
Submit it on paper and continue on a second sheet, it’s not mandatory to use their awful web portal
Genuine question, Why would you be prosecuted for failing to disclose?
Its a speeding fine from 20+ years ago, not a serious offence that I'm hoping nobody checks on.
When I did it on the last renewals I declared I had previous driving offences (sp30) but couldn't remember when.
Ask you issuing constabulary for a Subject Access Request on yourself. This will show past convictions, arrests, bail and etc.. Then send this to your licensing department with your application and on your actual form a advice to "Please see attached pages for additional information" and enclosed Subject Access Request. This is free don't confuse it with the £65 Visa Application Police Certificate that is also mentioned in the page I linked to.

Ask your local police to give you a copy of the information they hold about you - CRB check, DBS check, proof of identity
