Not over thinking I was travelling to angelsey the other day two hrs in the heat my aircon was not working it was hot in the cab . So how hot would it of been in the canopy. two mates of mine have trans k9 fans fitted but the cost for two units is over £250.00
My old pickup had a canopy with sliding windows it was great but the one I have now has solid sides.
As 75 said I'd park ur motor in the sun 1 day and keep sticking ur head in the back it is always pretty cool. Well mines always were
I've never had a canopy with windows ( other than the wee front 1) either solid fibre glass or alum and always ok.
Would windows make the canopies hotter? As magnifying the sun the way it does the the cab? As u wont get any benefit from the airflow when stopped
A mates picking up on a big estate the now and 1 of the other pickers swears by a fan in his dog trailer, got about an hour drive home and says even on a soaking wet winter's day dogs dry by time he gets home as all dampness sucked away. And he runs some long coated dogs ( springers and goldies)
Will be getting 12v fans might be the problem.
Would it be easier if they were battery powered?
Not bought a battery for a while but u used to get wee 12v batteries for those auto pheasant/duck feeders, sure only a tenner a battery. And have a few spares charged up.
Saves wiring ur dog box to motor
In past for lamping I've wired a cable straight to battery in the cab and use 1 of those orange garden type 2 pin power plugs, worked well as long as ur female side is the live. ( Althou u have to mark them to save reversing the voltage, not a problem in an old fashion lamp, not ideal for u fan)
Seen other keepers with normal 240v 3 pin plugs and sockets on there 12v lamps just cause cigarette lighters are usually useless and popping out
