Hmm. Pal just put his on the wall - he ain’t telling (married) but it took months and cost a small fortune.Has anyone recently had trophies imported from Africa? If so what was the cost?

I have shipped back two separate loaded from SA over the years, then I just did cull trips. The easiest way to get a ball park number is to Google Taxidermists in the area you are going to hunt make a note of their prices for what you believe you are going to bring back, on their price list it will show all the Plains game and the options, skull mount, shoulder mount etc. once you have the Taxidermy price you need to then double that to cover the transport and paperwork SA end, the transport to U.K. and the paperwork at U.K. end, it takes circa 6-10 months to arrive at your house from the date you leave A few years back now but one of my shipments was £7K Happy huntingHas anyone recently had trophies imported from Africa? Air freight? I imported a Spanish ibex in October, the only uk importer available uses airfreight only. nothing like that cost but still double what the initial taxidermy was.@tusker

I bring crates back all of the time but usually have 3 or 4 guys stuff in them. Last year I had 2 crates together approx 4ftx4ft each and cost was approx £4K from door to door. They were loaded and worked out about £200 per animal.
If you bring 4 or 10 in one crate cost will be the same as they work out on volumetric weight. You also have to pay the same fees for vet, inspection, insurance etc no matter the size.
Was £2600 the total cost or just the cost of importing.Cost 2 of us about £2600 to have crate delivered to my door, 15 animals , 2 shoulder mounts, pedestal mount, skulls , skins, rifle bag, book stand![]()
Total cost of shipping, import clearance, air freight to Heathrow then delivered to my door in the highlandsWas £2600 the total cost or just the cost of importing.
Thanks, Tusker
I remember the last crate from Africa. It was about £1800 shipping and all paper work etc, then £782 clearance and delivery
