Custom rod makers

tom jenkinson makes some fine rods but not sure if its sea rods only. i have used them many many times and very rarely fail

Chap down here in Cornwall called Aaron Insley. Turns out some very nice rods and he was very helpful when I was building mine. You can find him on Facebook.

Steve Parton who died in the mid 2000s made bespoke rods trading as Sparton. You may find such using those search words on internet auction sites?

Used to do all my own sea and fly rods, but got lazy..... if you want to look at a choice of basics for rod building guidesnblanks.com is a decent site to go to. They may even be able to point you in the direction of recommended builders. Definitely something good about a one off, be it a fishing rod or a rifle/shotgun (the latter will be on the never ending bucket list!)....

Steve died in 2013. Ive got 3 of his rods but even better than his rods was his float tube, i have one for about 15 years now, and have yet to find anything better.

Sold my custom set of four plus spod years ago as someone offered me silly money for them one day. For the life of me cant remember his name, but was based on the South coast but think he died about 10 years ago.

Sorry, not much help I know, but interested in what your looking to have made? 3.5lb to have a bit of backbone for big baits and a bit of cat fishing or 3lb all rounders to also go for a winter pike?

Ps - best spinning rod ive ever owned is a Greys Missionary 6 piece travel rod. Like waiving a feather, but can handle a small tuna. :thumb:
