Cut on dog,

Always difficult for another dog owner to advise, each case is different and is the owners responsibility to address. I would say that I've hardly ever used the vets for cuts, bumps, bruises. As has been said before previously - the action I normally take is... keep it clean with salt water, keep it dry, keep an eye on it.

As an aside, my wife's hairdresser just took her poodledoo thingy to the vets for loose stools....... 5 minutes later, £120 and a course of antibiotics.......probably just ate something it shouldn't.

For cuts that don't need stitching I have a syringe of penicillin and following a clean I squirt some into the wound, the syringe has a blunt end and is for inserting into the teat on the udder of a cow to deal with mastitis, Keep it in the fridge and costs less that a fiver for many, many applications.
