CWD Distribution?

Perfect muntjac habitat here too.

Anyone care to donate 👍
I had been told that muntjac were starting to get into North Wales, one was pulled out of a canal near Chester a few years back and I’m told that they are in the Wrexham area but I’ve yet to see one.

Muntjac are in the Denbigh area. I have seen them there myself. (Once in the flesh and once on trail cam).
Also another reported sighting further down the coast beyond Bangor, but I am sceptical of that one. If it is true, then it is a definite transplant.

I had heard that they might be as far in as Logerheads. Until three years ago I lived in the Vale of Clwyd almost within sight of Denbigh and shot, fished and walked dogs daily in the area and had not seen a muntjac, or heard any reports of muntjac in that area (including the fallow rich Elwy valley. I’m therefore guessing that they are a fairly recent arrival.

I’ve recently seen trail cam footage of a 6 point roe buck in the Vale of Clwyd taken in late 2025. I’m told that it’s not the only roe seen in this location. I just hope that the lampers give them a chance, I’ve been deliberately vague about the exact location for this reason.

Best way mate .... hope you see some does soon as the buck wont do much for population growth unless he finds some lady friends 👍

You’re absolutely right but it’s usually the bucks that arrive first. I’m also aware of recent trail cam footage of at least two muntjac in the same general area.

CWD are now spreading onto arable land, the wetland/marshland where they once called home is long gone!

I know of cwd 20 miles from the nearest wetland

Anyone shooting big numbers of roe and chinese, I'm wondering if chinese push the roe out?
I see a few roe and tons of chinese. Last night at last light I shot a chinese in the middle of a scrubby cover field, the field erupted with deer there must have been 20 in a 5 acre field!
Be careful what you wish for with these invasive deer, they must be eating and damaging other creatures habitat.

Chinese are horrible to put in the larder too, thin dark red blood that gets everywhere, tons of sticky fat, filthy àrseholes and the pins!

I’m shooting anywhere between 80-100 cwd a year, and they’re still roe deer here

Would you rather be stalking/culling roe or chinks? Are roe numbers less because of the chinese?
I'm curious if muntjac and chinese are displacing stuff that's been here longer.

I had somebody the other day telling me about how red deer displace other deer species, if you read too much into it you’ll be blinded by B/S if the deer are there, their there, if they’re not they’re not, they’re wild creatures they come and go as they please.

Too much is read into the if but’s and maybe

And it’s even worse now with all the crap on YouTube and all these influences, etc. I just don’t read into it.

I rely on my knowledge and my experience and everything else can do one

Spot on , too many experts about. If they are there they are there 👍

@Norfolk Deer Search

Too many homophones there!

Ask a civil question and you always get a rant from you.

We all know deer can can do as they please. The question was do invasive deer take over the territory of other deer? I'm not telling you anything, I'm asking.

I'd prefer to stalk deer than snipe chinks but if I see one I shoot it, shot 5 and stalked 2 fallow in the last three evenings.

Roe are territorial as are muntjac and cwd all 3 P up the same post!

I’ve seen no evidence of any of them pushing one or the other out.

I’ll stalk this evening and see all 3 without fail my even see red as well

There are at least a few muntjac around Loggerheads & there's a thread on the forum regarding muntjac in Cheshire. I know they were sighted in South East Cheshire several years ago.
