Dacia duster

Ro3 stalker

Hi, I'm looking at getting a duster for my every day work car instead of using the pickup everyday. I was wondering how people are getting on using them as a stalking vehicle and if it's capable of getting multiple fallow in? Any pics would be good to as how they are kitted out.

They seem fine , but , my brother in law used one for hunting, it didn’t fare well to be honest. Just seem a bit frail for proper hard work.

My parents got 7 kids, 2 dogs and themselves in a Ford Anglia and we all made it out alive after a 2.5 hour journey each way on a regular basis.

You'll be grand.

I will take a look.. just interested in hearing and seeing how people get on with using them for stalking.
Really depends on how and where you use it. Are you driving fast up miles of rough forestry tracks at all hours on night and day and regularly loading it up with 10 red stags.

Or you driving into a field to pick up a summer roe buck?

Weight and speed are the enemy of trucks / cars on dirt roads.

Mines a 2016 driven it round the forest and thousands of miles on gravel roads. It would easily take several fallow in the back. Like any vehicle if you abuse it it will break. They are cheap and very reliable and mine has not got a spot of rust on it. Goods as any 4x4 of road and mine will drive through a half mtr snow with no problem.

My son has his second one and his latest has all the bells and whistles as my new Discovery metropolitan :-( am I jealous in that respect or what ;-) His is not a 4x4 but he still keeps up with me off road, struggles a little bit in gate ways where the surface has been churned up by tractors or other farm machinery but always gets there in the end. As regards load space today he has just told me he is doing a skip run with an old old cooker and some furniture, I nearly fell off my chair but realised how much he has carried before so pretended I wasn't impressed
I also saw a 4x4 Duster being used in Turkey earlier this year in the mountains of Tokat and it struggled no more than the Toyotas but it kept up, now that was something that really impressed me, not only loaded with hunters but all the kit that goes with it as well. We all ended up on our intended pegs whether we travelled in the Duster or one of the Toyotas so I reckon as for stalking, unless you intend to pick up half a dozen Devon reds then you won't be disappointed.

I sold my hilux and went to a Vitara 4by4

Very capable things off road but obviously won’t go some places a truck would.

I’m waiting to see what the Subaru Baja pick up being released looks like

I really like the look of a Baja

We have had a Dacia Sandero for 10 years now.

It is by far the most reliable car I have ever used. At the time, air conditioning and a radio were extras. I paid for the radio but not the air conditioning. I wish I had.

For a standard car, it is superb off road. Very good clearance, so I imagine the Duster is even better.

Our other car is a Volvo. If I was to keep one of the two it would be the Dacia. It has been so much more reliable. Not as comfortable, but I couldn't recommend Dacia enough.

My wife has one that I occasionally use for stalking. Overall it’s a great little 4x4, but definitely not as tough as a pickup, but a lot nicer to drive and gets much better fuel economy. Surprisingly good off road, I’d say it would go 90% of the places my Defender would. If you get one with a tow bar then you’d not worry about space

There is one down side to the Dacia Duster they still don't come with a spare wheel, just some uggy glue stuff. My son paid for one as an after fitting which still made the vehicle excellent value for money.

Mine has a spare wheel. 4x4 2018 model.

I doubt any new car nowdays are coming with a spare wheel.
My 21 plate RAV4 didn't, i paid extra to the dealer for it, and the for the Duster III i have ordered , also i paid £300 as an optional extra

Here's a video of a new Duster being driven off-road...

Loads of excellent reviews on YouTube on the new Duster III , i have ordered an Extreme 4X4, due in March...
I've had one for 3 weeks (traded in my Duster II diesel). You won't be disappointed. The only thing wrong is that it didn't come with mud guards as standard which is ridiculous for a 4x4. However the heated seats and steering wheel are a God send after a 2 hour sit out 😊.

If you’re used to **** cars then it will be absolutely fine. I have the 4x4 on 21 plate. Takes two reds in the back no bother but obviously you’re sat on top of them. So only got front passenger space.

Swapped my truck for it due to the work miles I was doing and have to say it’s not a great drive if you’re churning up motorways very wafty and the seats uncomfortable but it’s frugal and does the job.

Dacia Dusters are fantastic value for money. I’ve had a 2016 4x4 version for 4 years now and it goes everywhere on our 3000 acres estate that my syndicate colleagues visit in their defenders, Hi-lux, etc, I used to have a string of Land Rovers before over the years (several Series, Discovery, Freelander) and I feel supremely smug about owning a Duster - it’s a real unrecognised gem! Put some Goodrich tyres on it and you’re ready to go!
