Dead fox cub photos - PR?

Yes you are correct it is a forum, and as for blowing hunting horns and putting sprigs of a branch on an animal after you shot it...

We are in 100% agreement Tim, what some find okay others don't and there isn't always a logical explanation.

If everyone that read my post said...."Pull yourself together man, there's nothing wrong with those photos "
I would have shrugged my shoulders and thought, okay it's just me then......

Agreed but I think the point is that this is a shooting forum and its not really plastered all over the internet.

I would never post pics on facebook or similar but if we cant post pics on a shooting forum then what hope is there left?

May as well ban the ability to post any pics if we dont want to cause offence to people who will never agree with shooting anything.
But it is all over the internet, there heaps of people plastering it on social media

It’s not just you, I’ve been banned from this very site for a post not much different from this one.

How things have changed In the time I was gone.

Now I’m very much of the opinion I’ll do me and you do you

Anything posted on here is effectively "plastered all over the Internet", as this is an open forum that anyone can view most areas of.

You can have a closed group on Facebook, Instagram etc, where only the people you choose to share pics with get to see them. So in many ways more private than this site.

No.
Good photos that portray shooting in a positive light are well worth posting.
But you have to learn to view them through other eyes before posting.
I liken it to when I was a part-time journalist, writing magazine articles every month. Before sending in a piece for publication I used to print it off to proof read it, not do it on screen, and I'd sit down in a comfy chair with it and a cup of tea, so that I could "be" the person who would ultimately be seeing it in the magazine, and read it through their eyes. It had to be right for them, not just right for me. And ultimately that sometimes meant compromising on some aspects.

Personally, I take very few pictures of animals that I’ve shot. I certainly don’t post them on social media. I almost feel that it’s a lack of respect. If others want to do, then fill your boots. Glorification of death just isn’t for me.

DG

I have to say I find the whole "last bite" ritual a bit lacking in taste.

(No pun intended, btw).
Us as stalkers "in the field" are quite covert, a lot of places I drive the truck on to the farm, shoot deer clean it out take it home and without social media no one would be any the wiser, the only horn blowing is to push the pigeons off before we set up for a days decoying.

I don’t like shooting fox cubs or fawns or hinds during the summer, I do it because sometimes its necessary.
What you don’t find me doing is posting graphic photo’s of semi disintegrated wildlife here or anywhere else.
I don’t want to see your photos of them either.

My thoughts also, theres just no need for the 'Lets show everyone what I did post'
Ive shot a lot of foxes, and Ive come across this 'You dont shoot cubs or milky vixens !' But Ive yet to hear how, at night, 150+ yards away, through a thermal or digital optic, you can tell the difference between 'legitimate' targets, and/or cubs (unless they are obviously, very small) ??

Each to there own Tim and whilst I fully respect your opinions I dont fully agree. I do think about what I post ...though I sometimes wonder why bother when everything is so ill perceived in case we may offend the non shooting public.

If I saw everything through the eyes of others I wouldn't shoot in the first place.

Rant over...I ll keep my opinion to myself now :) and have some lunch 👍

Mike, I wasn't suggesting that pest controllers are all "smirking clowns".....
My point was that posting pictures of themselves and their kills can irritate/upset/anger people, so why do it?......
