Dealing with a suburban fox

I've loaned cat traps to people to deal with foxes in gardens down in the village. Catch it,ring me, bring it up to the cottage, I've dealt with it.
The cage traps I have are the same as the RSPCA use for feral cat trapping, foxes go in no problems. Make sure that the door that closes has a locking mechanism on it, some of the cheap ones off fleabay don't and Charlie lets himself out after a bit of a struggle.

I would not recommend shooting at ground level from the garage etc. An elevated position is better and safer.
For noise one could rig a cardboard box lined with fleece or such like to aid the moderator.
A moderated shotgun would do as well.

Why. If it's his property no issues.
One complaint from a neighbour and you will get a knock on the door.
Shooting from inside a garage isn’t from an elevated position, plus potentially dangerous if you cant see someone crossing your line of fire.
17HMR in any built up areas is bloody loud so could cause alarm.
I think theres enough there for the fuzz to get ****y!!!

Why? Open licence so can decide where "safe" to shoot. As long as shot taken from more than 30ft from the centre of any highway all OK. Can even take the shot from closer to the highway if not causing alarm or distress (or similar wording)
Call Ghostbusters but don't cross the Streams

I think it's 50 yards from the centre of a highway and 50' for an airgun.

There’s absolutely no way i would let a shotgun or HMR off in a garden or building with neighbours in close proximity.
I understand people do this sort of stuff but i can only assume they don’t have much land to shoot on, theres no way id risk loosing the estate i shoot, let alone other permissions i have due to a complaint in that scenario.

I think it's 50 feet, and that only if the nause causes alarm to someone using the highway.
Perfectly legal to fire anything you like in the garden, but I probably woukdn't. If there's one sort of vermin worse than a fox trashing amd stinking out your garden, it's the anti living anywhere in earshot who takes exception to it.

Get a grip

You can shoot right across a road if you want to (for example, if you're stood on one side and the thing you want to shoot is on the other side, and you have permission on both sides), and you can stand as close to the road to do it as you like.
The only caveat is that if you discharge a firearm within 50ft of the centre of the highway  and someone is alarmed/endangered/interrupted etc by your shot (I forget the exact wording) then there is an offence.
I have fired a rifle across public highways on numerous occasions.

Your wording was closer than mine 😀 .... had to check and its "injures, interrupts, or endangers"

I use 20 paces as my guide then set the hide up for pigeon shooting as there is a good chance there will be more than one shot lol,
Shot fall is much more to consider, had a women ring the farmer claiming the shot was crossing over the road landing on her house!
I had checked it 450 yds lol 28gm 7.5's
