Decoying Crows from where they want to be.

I set up on Saturday morning on some flattened winter barley and fresh cut silage, I shot my first crow at 5.45am and had a constant flow until about 10.30, fired 116 shots picked 34 from silage field and reckon id have another 20 odd in the standing barley.
First light is the best as they are hungry after roosting, it was also my first whirl with the silosock decoys and they seemed to work a treat in the nice breeze we had.

Nice result there...though first light was about 4.20 a.m on Saturday so you were cheating and having an extra hour in bed 😅 The only reason I know is I was stupid enough to be up at 3 and set up by 4.15. Ironically the session I had between 4.30 and 9.00 was much slower than around 10.30 when I set up on farm 2. Keep up the good work 👍

I had to drive about an hour to get to the fields in question 😬 👍

The corvids know where they want to be. You should have been where they want to be. You should take extra effort to ensure your hide blends in as much as possible. You should be there just before first light. If the area is very close to houses, or cattle, or "sensitive" for any reason, then you could consider using a 410 or a moderated shotgun. By not doing the above you have denied yourself a red letter day !
