I have seen a good few people wearing the boots with the scratch less coating on. Looking online there seems to be three of these boots for sale. The dedito and the diotto look the same ? And the black islander looks very similar. Are they completely different boots ?? Thanks

I have Altbergs with that type of coating. I've had nowt but grief with them, wont bother again.

Leaking, repaired, leaking, repaired, leaking, rebuilt with higher rand, leaking within a few hours.
I'm not convinced that a good seal can be made between rand and leather/coating.
I have Meindls that are subject to the same terrain and useage that only leak now they're several years old and have bad cuts in the leather.
The fancy coating still needs treated with wax same as plain leather does to, it's not a waterproofing layer.

I guess that that is the Gunnerside. I was considering it but I guess I won't now.

Was also looking at the Lundhags Professional which seems to have some similar coating.

Gamekeeper Stark Extremes. It may be they have been renamed, certainly look identical.

Must admit was going to buy doditto, but passed an army navy store a while back and got tall haix, very happy 50 quid.
Not done a lot in them yet but have gave a lower pair a hell off abuse at work, they leak now but had them a few years wore them a lot and for the money done very well

So I've been looking for some new boots for a while, it seems the "boot market" is fraught with problems and in general build quality is horrendous... After researching I found out the following regards your original question:

  • Diotto - are an Italian small scale boot manufacturer - UK outlets seem to be Swillington / Wild Stags but most sizes seem to be out of stock.
  • Dedito - Is an independant guy in the UK who's imports / re-brands some of the Diotto range as Dedito.
  • Black Islanders - according to there website they are nothing what so ever to do with Diotto... And have some fairly strong wording to that effect on there website!
As for a new pair of boots im still non the wiser... my old Meindl's were faithful friends and never let me down....

Ive had 3 pairs diotto and 1 pair dedito. Only place mine have leaked is leather oval on heal that perished after few years of use, have to say my last pair of diotto aren't the most comfortable. New dedito are comfy but i only wear for loading not really tested, the rest have been 90 days shooting plus stalking

Well I fancied going altberg next with them being British made however I'm having second thoughts if they're prone to leaks,

Anyone know any other UK manufacturers please?

Ive had my Altberg Gunnersides for a year now, no leaks at all, brilliant boots. Had defenders before that, not designed to be leak proof but never had issues with them either (still got them and use them). Over the years Ive had many different makes from Iowa, Haig, Meindl etc. Altbergs have been the best for me by far, big plus that they are british and a great company to deal with.
