Deer poachers convicted

This is a rare story of a decent sentence for some notorious local deer poachers. Lancashire Police Rural Crime Team did a fantastic job of including charges for the likes of animal cruelty that carry much heavier sentences than poaching.

Great to finally get a proper sentence.

Another pair of idiots who did all the police work themselves

It would seem the only people ever prosecuted for this type of activity convict themselves by filming it to share on mobile phones. No police work required.

Yep I’m sure they swore out their own warrants, arrested and interviewed themselves, seized their own dogs, prepped the file and disclosure on themselves including multiple mobile phones worth of data and handed it to the prosecuting agency in a digestible format…all themselves.

Moronic internet comment of the day.

True though.
They convicted themselves by having proof on their phones .
Same as most who are convicted of this type of thing.

Your opinion doesn’t change that.

When I see a sentence like that I wonder who is going to check that the no dogs bit it complied with, also will the sentence be cut short for good behaviour as they will have no option but to behave themselves in prison. There ought to be a bit added on at the end of the sentence stating that no parole will be entertained.

Mobile phone data is key with many detection of crimes, through cell siting, conversations, and pictures. Drug dealing, thefts, sexual offences, harassment etc etc-all typically reliant on this kind of evidence.

In any event people like to film their exploits, which will certainly bump up pup prices if the sire/dam are seen to be capable, as well as bragging rights in general. The key question is, are the police sufficiently resourced, proactive and knowledgeable enough to get a case like this to fruition.

The bureaucracy and process involved to get something quite complex (despite your assertions) to court is unbelievable. Even then a good result is far from assured. Try to have a little more respect for that.

I think this one wins.

What next for the dogs?

Four dogs were seized; Hector, a black lurcher, and a tan and white lurcher, called Chanelle, from Lloyd; and a dark brindle lurcher, called Blaze, and a grey merle lurcher, called Dixie, from Jones. Dixie and Chanelle were both pregnant and had puppies in the RSPCA’s care.

Article suggests RSPCA re-homes.

Next doors cat might be in peril 🤣

That’s all true and amazing as it may seem I’m well aware of it and am in fact , not a moron ( despite your assertion)

If you read the report it states the mobile phone was seized and it then transpires that all the evidence used to convict all the ( actual) morons was obtained from footage on the phone.

Another case where if there was not self filmed evidence, there would likely be no prosecution at all.

Please don’t make the stupid assumption I’m defending these halfwits, I’m simply pointing out the fact that they did the police’s job for them by gathering and providing all the evidence required to get themselves jailed.

“The punishment for poaching was not always death but for those who were not executed, they were often maimed. They would often lose a hand to signify stealing from the king and also to make it harder to hunt or wrangle in the future”

Perhaps old legislation or summary dealings should be re visited 😂😎

add to that the postcode lottery of Crown Court Juries .... when I was in Merseyside the guilty percentage findings by a jury at Liver pool Crown was less than half of that of Chester Crown Court!

We have all these illegal immigrants landing on the south coast bringing all their own ways of living over here but we don't have any of the 'off with their hands' for thieves do we ;-)
