Deer Rucksack

The Sika Sack has indeed more volume capacity in the liner compared to the standard Roe Sack or the Compact Waist Pack Roe Sack.

On your back folded/unused there is not much size difference between the Sika Sack & the Roe Sack, a small overall increase in liner size makes quite a difference in the volume capacity.
Thanks, a very useful comparison.

Have had a 37kg larder weight doe in my ogdens sika sack on Friday, wasn’t gralloched either. Also had a 50+ kg fallow buck last winter for a short downhill extraction, had help with both getting them on my back.
Thanks, that's helpful to know it is capable of carrying that sort of weight. Yes help onto the shoulders makes all the difference when the weights get up there.

Monarch sack not the new one has the flap pockets not to be trusted with anything worth money. But the new sack they make is defo up to the job with new pockets. This sack is still in use today and has lifted 100,s of roe and few fallow and a red calf . My back is not up to the heavy weights any more so its one roe at a time.

Thanks the detail of the weights carried in the sika are very helpful.

With the ground getting very wet I'm looking at back pack options for smaller fallow and also roe.
I wondered if anyone would recommend a particular deer sack. I have borrowed one from a friend and it works very well with up to and including mature fallow does, but unfortunately it's been discontinued.

I am considering this as an option. Has anyone used this or similar? I'd be interested in your comments.

Big doe, and kids or 5 muntjac are able to be carried out in one. Great bit of kit highly recommended and stays out the way untill needed. If you sit in a highseat, turn it round to your front and rest your elbow on it for those longer shots!

Another vote for the Monarch/Ogdens sack.

I have the roe version, and I have easily fitted two mature roe does inti it (heads and legs off).

As others have said: you reach the limit of what you can safely lift before you reach the bag’s capacity.

The new version is just superb, and Rob at Monarch could give seminars on customer support and efficient service.

I second this. Although I can get a vehicle to most places on the farm, it chews up the ground at this time of year so I bought a Sika sack from Monarch. Really brilliant company to deal with and I can't see how it would be possible to improve on the sika sack.

I use the Ogdens sack. First class and really well made
I did a few mountain hunts and had a clear fell area on the fells a while ago and used a Riserva pack designed for mountain hunting. Really comfortable to carry and was ideal for carrying Roe/ Chamois out

PS the Riserva also carries your rifle if needed - when dragging red for example

I have it on good authority that a roe sack, (very similar to the popular Poppins sack) will be available on this site in the new year, I have one already, they are extremely well made and around £50
