Devon and Cornwall variations

I received a letter just before Christmas to say my renewal would not be processed in time but as I’d met the submission timelines my certificate would be extended.

Picking up on this thread please gents - I put my renewal in today with 3 1/2 weeks before expiry (because my GP took forever). I realise it was supposed to be 8 weeks prior but we are where we are. Does anyone know whether it's likely Devon and Cornwall dept. will process this in time, and what might happen if they don't? I'm hoping I can just store the contents of my cabinet at my local RFD until it comes through?
Thanks in advance,
Mike

Hi Mike, if its like my last renewal you will get a extension temporary certificate. This will then get very close to running out, then your inspection will happen and you remind them of this temporary one being close to end date, they will then let it run out so you have nothing at all. You contact them, they ignore you and then they will send you your certificate about 3 weeks later.

shambles.

😂Ideal, I'll look forward to that process then. Cheers!

My last 1 for 1 was dealt with within a month

That was 9 months ago

My renewal was due on 18th of this month

I too received a 2 month extension, however the new cert arrived on 16th

That was despite Royal Mail’s best efforts, who try awfully hard not to deliver anything !

Hi Mike same with me GP cockup 7 weeks 4 days and despite assurances it would come in time I had to lodge my all my guns and amo with my RFD with lots of paperwork of course 😤

I have handed back to my mate his guns today from a renewal put in just after New Year,DnC happy for me to hold them.
He was late getting it in though due to double hip replacement, tough old lad.

My renewal/variation went in at the start of Covid, much madness and extension letters.
To be fair at the last when things all semi normal they pinged me through very quickly.

Can't complain.

My GP was very quick to step away from Dr references, annoying as he pokes and prods all the farmers and friends that shoot.
Medcert/shootcert sorted that double quick time.

A quick update on this - I emailed D&C to express my concerns that my FAC / SGC certs would not arrive before the old ones expired. I had a prompt email back reassuring me that they would arrive on time. 4 days before expiry the new ones arrived. Overall I am really impressed - I put time constraints on this by not getting started early enough and D&C Firearms Dept were brilliant at communicating and ensuring all ran smoothly. Cheers.
