Differant way to skin a deer...

I have seen it done before where someone had a winch on the floor to pull the skin off. Very good. I'm not sure it would work on a muntie though as I find they rip easily. Can one confirm or deny that?

Might give that a go next time I'm lucky enough to drop a beast ....worth a try ..he made it look easy .....but I'm guessing he's done quite a few!

It's good to see a "How To" video where someone takes the time to tell the viewed no only what he is doing but just as importantly why!

I skin munties head up. Normally have to free the skin off as it comes off the haunches, otherwise it pulls a little area about the size of a walnut on each haunch. Which spoils them a little.

I skin all my Munties head up. Normally I have 20+ each year and about the same number of CWD.
The Munties are tough little beggars, the CWD are very easy to work on by comparison.

No matter how careful I am the meat always starts to rip in a few places, normally due to battle scars where the healing skin has attached to the muscle.

I do all deer that way using a winch, the winch is mounted above as usual but I have a removable stainless steel roller bar near the floor. Skin or meat can tear if your not careful but the use of a knife soon stops that.

Very interesting video, but from a hygiene point of view I agree about laying the carcass on the floor and also I would not be using a swiss army knife as to difficult so sanitise.

Interesting.....but I'd like to see him do that technique with an old fallow buck. I don't know what sticks their hide on, but it beats superglue any day......

As mentioned above the older ones are considerably trickier. However not taking anything away from the chap he explained it very well any video that helps the less experienced put clean venison into the food chain is a plus for the sport.
