Doctors and Renewal

Some of the waiting times/costs listed are eye openers! I was 6 weeks wait and £53, which at the time I thought was a bit excessive!

My FAC expires on the 17th November.
I started off the process with Medcert on 9 August.
I contacted them again after getting Medical records from GP (which the GP should have sent to Medcert direct to stop tampering) fortunately they were in sealed envelope.
Contacted Medcert again on 11th October and was reassured that the completed proforma would be with me by end of October.
Contacted Medcert on 27 October ... No response
Several phone calls this week. now told today that GP has not looked at my records yet. Fuming.
I now have to arrange for guns to go into storage.
So it looks I have to go through the New Grant Process.... Extra money
I was told by Medcert that they have an arrangement with local RFD for free storage ....thanks for that!

This is the issue with using such services, last renewal my registered GP did the report for me at £95.00 extortion however at least I could pop in and chase in person which I had to do.

Feel for anybody for whatever reason needs to use such services.

Mine took 2 days and cost £40, drop the form in to the surgery on the Wednesday, had a text to say it was ready on the Friday.

Mine took 3 days but cost me £140.. A fair bit of cash i know but to TBH as Im primarily a target shooter its still less than the cost of a morning @1000yards at Bisley.

I’ve dropped the forms off with my doctor this morning, I was told that the surgery would forward the completed forms on for me, is that standard procedure? Most of the comments seem to be people have been and collected them…

The text in the jpg above refers to when a 3rd party is involved in producing the Medical report (e.g. MedCert) in such cases the patients notes must be submitted directly from the practice to the doctor.
Once the doctor has completed the form this is provided to the applicant for submission to the FLM team as per that force/service's predefined process.
