Dog insurance

We have had our dog insured with Boughtbymany who are now called manypets. It was £20 a month for the last year. Just had a renewal quote of £37 a month. She is 15 months so not an old dog. When I shopped around on comparethemarket.com I got a quote of £21.22 a month with M&S. Been through the fine print and it all seems exactly the same cover as what we have had with manypets. All I can think is manypets are trying it on hoping we don't bother to shop around so I'll be voting with my feet.

just spent £500 on one of mine out of my pocket . about ten years since my last proper bill ( it wasnt as much ) . Its all about venture capitalists not better treatment . Each month there has to be a good RTOI or the practice gets dumped . I also suspect the bills to the insurer are inflated because the vet asked first if i was insured , Come on imagine ..... Its like Body repair work on you car add a lump if its insurance , knock a lump off if it includes the client being able to say " i need another quote " or words to the effect

Ageas £12.00 a month 5 year old Border Terrier.was previously £46.00 with Petpaln when she was 4 year old.
Similar cover with Ageas

Currently putting £100 aside per month for my 11 month old Sprocker but following a trip to the vets & being stunned by the bill for a consultation & urine test I’m considering taking out insurance

Anyone got some recommendations for a decent company?

Cheers
Check any prospective company an TrustPilot. The marketing blurb appears to be inversely proportional to real life feedback!! Some appalling venture capital funded companies appear to be fantastic yet never pay out. LV have been brilliant for my motor for 20 years and appear to get good feedback 🤞

Was with insurance emporium was reasonable £30 a month for the two dogs and they paid out but this year post a small claim they upped it to £56. Ended up getting the same cover from Tesco for £37 for both.

Nothing but a racket however what else can you do putting money aside now just won’t cut it especially if the dogs young. The bills are ridiculous.

Just had one of my Labs into the vet . £500 the biggest bill i have ever paid at any vet in 40years ! Vet asked if i was insured before they suggested treatment ( give away that ) , be prepared to negotiate its a business like any other . Drip, overnight monitoring and dehydration electrolytes.

Take a veichle to the body shop and tell them its not insurance and its a whole different price also . People are saying £30 a month ? well thats £60 for two dogs , so here is me a guy who has kept dogs himself for four decades ( often muliples up to 3 ) and £500 just recently my biggest bill .
I would not have a dog on a trolley and wont spend on bionic hips etc and i think its not the venture capitalist owners that created this , its the insurance firms ! Facilitating and the vets who are willing to do cancer operations on old dogs , put them on wheels etc .
Had to spend a grand on new suspension on the pick up couple of weeks previous. Nobody insures that either , if they did it would likely have the garage charging 3k
its not all good for the practice managers though because miss you quarterly target and the investors pull their money out.
I will carry on as i was and the more of us that do the sooner this scam will end !
