Dog joint supplement??

Be interested in the correct name of that substitute for metacam you mentioned. Thanks
Galliprant still prescribed by vet but supposed to target the area not everything the way metacam does a noticeable difference with our spaniels arthritis.

I also use half a paracetamol per day for a 14yo lab. Vets actually told me to do it. Said it would stop her feeling stiff all the time. Works a treat.

Galliprant does indeed work in a slighlty different way and is useful for those with gut reaction to the metacam type drugs (NSAIDs). I forgot to mention before that paracetamol is OK in dogs. There isn't much evidence of it, but that's more becuase trials are expensive

Youmove and Devils Claw for my old lab who has both elbows gone and a crucial element ligament done 8 years ago.
Stiil walking but slowly untill I get the gun out of the cupboard and then he loses 5 years.

Zipvit also do a joint supplement. I checked the ingredients and it's very similar to YuMove. I've had my lab on it for 18 months, works.

Labrador with a previous history of an elbow microfracture here. The elbow was noticeably stiff after rest, and she limped noticeably, especially the evening and next morning after a day's work. Vet's advice was painkillers (prescribed by them) on an ad-hoc basis. They also suggested a joint supplement, so I got Nutramax Cosequin DS plus MSM. Not cheap, but after the initial bedding in period she no longer limps. She has one a day, and has done for the last 20 months. Touching wood, she hasn't limped or appeared stiff for about 18 months. I also keep her weight low, she's about 26.5kg, which probably also helps, although she was always kept lean and fit.

Placebo effect? Yes of course. I sat the dog down and read her the list of ingredients, and the various bits of stuff you can get online telling you of the benefits of Glucosamine. She as much as told me that because I was spending the extra 30p a day on her that she would join in the deception and has promised not to limp, even if we do overdo it.
