Dog skin condition.

Does anyone know what this is ?
£300+ later and our local "vet" doesn't have a clue.
The dog isn't scratching, restless, off his food or in any way troubled by it but it can't be comfortable.
Someone mentioned bramble rash , an internet search doesn't reveal any information though...

There are several areas of the same, dry, hardened, hairless skin

is the dog in kennels? it could be where it lies on the floor in one position.i had something similar on a dog a few years back.

if its not laying on concrete can I ask what you are feeding the dog. My GWP has a wheat allergy which resulted in a similar skin condition when we were feeding him a dry diet which contained cereal. he's now on a wheat free kibble and plenty of raw meat thrown in and we no longer have teh skin issues.

What have they looked at for the £300?
Ruled out bacterial/fungal or dermatitis?

Did they do a skin scraping at all ? Or what did the bill cover and rule out test wise ?

Interestingly enough my lab had something very similar a couple of months ago.
Losing huge patch’s of hair all over back legs, front legs and belly.
Vet diagnosed as fox mange.
She had a steroid injection which stopped the scratching within hours and gave me the strongest form of Advocate (tick and flea stuff). I applied weekly for 3 weeks and her coat went back to normal in 4 weeks.
I also did a few other things like discarding her bed.
I know you mentioned yours hasn’t been scratching but worth looking into

The vets have been back in touch, they're saying it's ringworm, and that he likely caught if from rotting wood....even though it wasn't causing him any distress, scratching etc.
So at least we have a diagnosis and a treatment plan.

I thought ringworm but then a closer look pictures didnt look like it.

Cheapest way to treat ringworm is 2% strength Canesten. You'll have to ask for the 2% stuff in the chemist as they keep it behind the counter. It's cleared up our terrier's a couple of times now.
