Drag ropes

Hi all

Looking for recommendations for a drag rope. I currently use a 1T webbing sling but find it a bit bulky in the pocket, as its about 1" or so wide and takes up a bit of space in my main jacket pocket.

I mainly shoot Roe and Reds

Thanks in advance

I use a climbing loop. Doesnt rip through my hands. Easy to loop round a neck and drag, Ive dragged reds with them. Can also use two together to extend or use cord.

I also use it as a ‘tree hugger’ and can suspend carcasses on a telegraph pole or tree or fencepost. Really quite useful for about £8.

A bit of 9mm climbing rope and an offcut of 15mm plastic pipe works for me. Plastic pipe is optional but stops it digging into your hands. You can buy climbing rope from any climbing / outdoor shop by the metre.

also used dog leads to good effect.

I’ve got a fair few of these as well - very useful but go for the older, wider style rather than more modern dyneema - which is too thin and digs into your hands.

I've just sent you a link which might help, I went for 20mm wide as doesn't dig in your shoulder so much.

quick search found these but any climbing or outdoor shop would have them in varoius lengths.
The ones I have are from my climbing days. I no longer climb but use them for drags instead.

As per my post above - don’t go for the narrow, dyneema 8 or 11mm ones. They are super strong but too narrow. Go for a traditional nylon sling (sling is correct term) - cheaper and wider so easier on the hands. Roe would be ok but I wouldn’t fancy dragging a red far on dyneema!
Regular climbed and old slings relegated to dragging deer and general lifting / moving carcasses etc.

See this is the thing. It's a nylon sling around at 2m long and must be 20mm wide that I am using now.

We use them in work for looping and lifting material in and out of our CNC machines. We call them webbing slings, regardless of the name they are much the same thing.

Think I may need to try some climbing rope and a hose pipe.

I have a length of a soft blue rope where it came from FNose but I spliced a big P Clip one end and made a chin hook from an old stainless spear gun shaft. The muntjac ones are a length of para cord and a piece of hose pipe which wrap up very small. You can double the knot and pull it inside the hose pipe if you want.
The first on is quite long but I use it on my wheel barrow to tie the kit from falling off.

I find this☝️ a great bit of kit with a variety of drag options and added bonus of bone saw built in too, for short drag just use the hook by itself! Brilliant!👍
