El range problem

Hi all

I recently bought a pair of second hand El range 8x42 as I was impressed with the glass and always wanted a pair. I have them about 6 months now and have ranged out to 1200 yards with them no problem. Lately though they have stopped ranging at long distances and I only get intermittent range readings out to 400 yards at the most anything past that is just the 4 lines I have changed the battery and still the same I was just wondering has anyone else experienced this problem and is there any solution other than sending them back to Swarovski.

Thanks
Rickie

I’ve had no problems but there customer service is second to none, just write them an email explaining the situation and they will have them in for a look I’m sure.

Thanks for that I'll end up sending them back I'd say alright how old are yours roughly do you know these were well minded by the last owner they are about 7 or 8 years old.

Let us know if they fix FOC under their usual great customer service and warranty or if the two year warranty on electronic components is enforced. It would definitely help others when deciding between the European makers and Vortex based of potential warranty claims.

Will do I'll email customer service in the morning to see what they say I'll let everyone here know the story when they get back to me

Bit of an update on this not much I sent away my binoculars on the 28th of September and received an email 3 days later saying my binoculars that I had registered for repair have been received at there factory and will be looked over as soon as possible and once they have assessed them they will give me a quote for fixing if not under warranty. Haven't heard 1 word since could do with them now freezer is starting to get empty looking 😂

If I haven't heard anything by the middle if next week I'll email customer service and see what the story is. When they emailed you to tell you what was wrong how long did it take for them to fix and get back to you

I had same issue with my el range Swarovski purchased through Sportsmans gun centrer that had gone past their 2year electronics warranty ,they fixed them FOC great service. That’s what you pay for after all there not cheep binoculars.

How long ago was that and have you had trouble with them since I'd be afraid that whatever went wrong this time could go wrong again but if they fix it free of charge I spose the only issue would be the tone waiting for them to be fixed

Sod’s Law it was in October last year I think I took about 6 weeks to come back.I haven’t had any problems since.
my pulsar thermal spotter stopped working same time but was still under warranty sportsman gun centre Exeter sorted them out for me also good service.

I sent stuff back to Swarovski years ago and it took them 6 weeks to grease a o-ring. Not quite the legendary service you frequently hear of.

Remember that not all Swarovski servicing repairs are free, when I sent my ELs back which I’d owned from new, they required a new ocular lens (due to a very small scratch) and total cost came to about £200.
Far less than the cost of a replacement pair but far more than I expected given the number of free services posted on SD.
That said I’ve since had 2 scopes serviced foc so it’s a case of sending your Swarovski item in and taking it from there.

A friend had a similar problem…. He replaced the battery and all worked well. I assume you did that already……?

Ya first thing i tried was the battery I wasn't that lucky even made sure the battery had plenty of date left on it.

The legendary service of most these top European manufacturers are just chucking a few small trinkets at owners to keep them happy. Getting a free lens cover worth about 40p isn't worth the RRP of the product in the first place. Spending an extra £1500 on some binos or a scope and getting (at cost) a free service or two worth a few hundred quid is hardly a win.

I'll stand by for all the incoming flack now as people rush to defend their spending😂
