This is a roe buck I shot this morning using Fox 150 grain bullet showing the entry wound and the exit. Range was 225IMG_20210907_065045_232.webpIMG_20210907_065123_348.webp yards downhill deer facing slightly towards me. The buck dropped on the spot which is what I wanted as in clearfell they are difficult to findif they run too far When I skin the deer I'll show the carcass damage.Top picture entry bottom exit.

Shot a stag with 30-06 - heart and lung, great entry no exit and no discernible bones struck. Animal was unaware, and dropped albeit slower than I’d have liked/used to. Can’t draw a conclusion until a good cohort is built up though 👍🏻

I have had very convincing results with both factory 308/110gr S&B blue and 110gr Barnes TTSX on Roe, no steps taken post chest shot, no bone engagement good wounds through and through. A good combination over 11 taken this year.

Pic above is on reds over 100 yard shot, 308 and 270 cal
they seem to work better the faster they go but they do kill as good as lead
Speed seems to be crucial on deer to get the shock/expansion , mv 3000 fps +. Not sure if it applies to boar though with their thicker skins & more dense bones, perhaps some of the experienced boar guys will advise?

yes, the 270 is doing 3100fps and the 308 is 2650fps
That`s interesting cos I recovered a 6.5mm 100gr TTSX from a furrow in the ground close behind a Fallow, at I guess an angle of approx 45 degrees, perfectly mushroomed. Which is great but if it had gone straight it should have buried itself into a 20 foot high bracken bank. So I have questioned myself about where and how far it would have gone if it diverted upwards of 45 degrees and cleared the bank.

Used copper for boar for past 2 years and they have always gone down fast. I think lead is banned in germany now as it is in some other places. My 9.3x62 is certainly not fast but the lead free rounds seem to work just as well. Shot a young fallow coming through the line and must have had good expansion even on that as the exit was bigger than my hand !

I use Sako powerhead in my .270. Never any issues. Beasts go straight down. Used anywhere from 100yds out to 250yds. Really impressed with this ammo since going to copper full time.

A lot of state forestry areas had banned lead but the ricochet issue is still unresolved.
