Ex forestry commission vehicles

Yep new ones I've seen are hilux, pretty much the same layout. 1/2 the back a dog box, end access rifle box, other half fitted to boxes, shelves or drawers. Winch and tray/ramp in the back. The roof lamp can have water problems, but I guess that's just cutting holes in the roof. Got to say the Rangers have got a bad rep for fuel consumption, but good low speed performance (for cruising round forestry blocks). I've heard the Toyota isn't as good at crawling round, but is better at speed and on fuel.

My old ranger,58 plate, returned high 20's to low 30's per gallon. New Ranger, started at 19 mpg and now does an impressive 23 mpg! Does the same job as my old truck and its meant to be better, aye right. Ford are talking rubbish

Just wait till you get to the high 90k's My 3.2 died, never to be revived and a mate with a 2.2 has just had a new engine fitted !!

The FC ranger I know has gone from Ranger to Hilux. I'm not sure if he likes it as much, too many bonging noises for seatbelt, lights on, keys in, etc for his liking.

I was on first refusal to buy his Ranger direct until it turned out they were leased and the lease company would only send them to auction as they thought they would get the sort of money they retail for on eBay. The leasing company were wrong.

The last one I heard of to change hands privately from the FC went for about 1/3 of what this lot in Perth are asking, but you do need to be careful as some Rangers look after their vehicles and some use them as battering rams.

We had two at work, the 2.2 auto had to have a new engine at 110k and the 2.2 manual had one at 120k. They were both 12 plates, so hopefully the newer ones will be better!

The seat belt noisey thing is easy to disarm, ignition on, seatbelt light goes off, fasten the belt quickly 6 times and it stops the noise. Need to do it for all seats. Reactivating is the same process.

My 2.2 has already had an issue with the gearbox!
My brother gave his leased Volvo back with 160k miles on it after 3 years and hardly a missed days work, he bought a new Ranger to give him extra ground clearance and extra carrying capacity ......... bad move and he is on about getting rid of it after 9 months. Brake problems, and now the gearbox is making strange noises . He is getting fed up with garage days.

Is there a similar fix to get the side lights to switch off as dusk is falling? A friend has one and says that they come on automatically and can't be switched off.
