Rusan adapters sticking?

We are thinking about buying a thermal add-on and are currently considering the Hikmicro Thunder or the Nocpix Mate.

We are also considering mounting this on our scopes with a Rusan adapter, but we’ve heard that it can sometimes stick when removing the add-on and requires a lot of force to open.

Does anyone have experience with Rusan adapters and how they perform in practice?

If i remember correctly the tensions is adjustable on the lever (sorry this may be stating the obvious). Mine is connected to a front add on so it comes off every night after use, if i left it on the scope for a longer period of time it can be hard to remove.

It is a good bit of kit. I was nervous about POI change. I try and line it up and fix it in exactly the same way each time, its been spot on. Solid.

I have 3 Rusan modular adapters permanently fitted to 3 Swaro Z6i/dS scopes. The mount stays on the scope all the time (I carry muzzle down) and I have absolutely no return to zero issues on any of the rifles. The scope adapter's release ring can be a bit stiff to turn to release the clip-on (Hik Thunder 3 TQ50CL) on occasion, but its almost always a "tension" issue. Instead of trying to do it one-handed with the rifle cradled in my arm, if I slip the rifle back partially into the slip so that the rifle is supported and I can use two hands, one to hold the clip-on and the other to operate the ring, it works much better. I've now been using this arrangement for 18 months and its not an issue.

To clarify; Sam is refering to the 2-piece Rusan MAK adapter, of which we intend to let the scope mount part attached to the scope with the new rusan flip-up cover attached (Flip-up poklopac za modularni sistem adaptera). we were told this will eventually stick when in use and will be hard to take off.

In reaction to above; we prefer to carry muzzle up, hence the flip-up cover.
If anything, I have found the Rusan scope adapter portion to be too easy to come off!

Edit: I've just juggled scopes and rifles around and have removed one of the Rusan adapter that have been on for a year - no issues :thumb:

This topic is about the part of the adapter which is fixed to the scope if I am not mistaken?
If so, that is not what they were referring to at the store. They were talking about the quick connector between the part fixed to the scope and the part which is attached to the ad-on. To join the two you have to turn a ring, which secures everything.
Getting this loose after use to remove only the ad-on, but leave the part on the scope seems to give problems.
We were thinking about using the mount for the scope which has the 3 screws to prevent falling off like above and fixing the new flip -up cover they do to that. That way we also have protecting when the thermal part is not mounted.

Ok, now I understand.

With the Thunder 3, even using the supplied Hik C-spanner to tighten the modular adapter to the clip-on it seems to come loose very easily on mine. I have not noticed any loss of zero but I have tightened it several times over the last year. I have the Rusan eyepiece adapter that screws on instead of the scope (used to read the menu off scope to turn on the wi-fi for downloads) and I have to be very careful when fitting that so it doesn't unscrew the adaptor from the clip-on.

That's a different problem from what we were told, but something to keep an eye on. Leaning towards Nocpix so that may be less of an issue. I don't know whether the contra-ring.on those is easier to tighten well.

I didn't trust just tightening mine up so I glued the threads and wrapped it in black electrical tape so I always 100% no it can't move

I have set another 2 thunder 3.0 up for other people and have just taped theres , they haven't had a issue

I get/have what you are talking about (Rusan Mars adaptor).
I can understand that if you turn the locking collar rally hard it would be difficult to unlock, I don`t lock very hard and seems to be okay unlocking it to remove, it also returns to zero very well.

And you haven't lost any add-ons so far? 😁

I have a Thunder 3 on three scopes, no issues at all. Didn’t release there was the flip up option. Can’t seem to find any for sale though,
