when my renewal was in progress, I made sure I got an answer from the FLD in writing, that answer was NO you cannot hold Sec5 ammo on a Sec7 permit, this was in direct contradiction to the verbal advice from my FEO ! I made a point that if I had to store the ammo I would be passing the cost on, my FAC was renewed on time ! go figure .........

This is what we all knew but looking at all the sect7,s issued it stated authority to possess knowing full well that we all except maybe tim,s/vss, daughter would be or in the process of shooting deer with expanding ammo, and when pressed on it they either declined to answer at all in my case,or in others told verbally carry on as usual.the trouble now is with all these new staff members in place means there are only so many people in place to oversee what cockups they are doing, even my feo said they screwed my cert up but couldn,t for the life of him figure out how they did it because he said, they are processed automatically with the same info thats been checked as your sect7,but mine had no mod on for 308 even tho it was on my sect7.?

I had to lodge all of my expanding as nil listed section 7.

I did not deem the cost I incurred to be worth the effort of recovery, as all involved from the force end were open, courteous and professional in all communication.

I should just clarify that the sec 7 permit issued for the purposes of zeroing and DSC test simply stated 50 rounds of ammo, type unspecified. It was in email correspondence that I was told that my daughter could use my normal stalking ammunition under that authority.

cheers for clearing that up tim ,i hadn,t realized they emailed you,i know the rest of them where told verbally.even tho it was all wrong.;)

I have just (this afternoon) received my FAC renewal which is rather fortunate as my current certificate expires today:shock:.

Because timing was so tight I rang my FLO on Monday to politely enquire whether my new cert would be issued in time. The response was "Oh, you will have to lodge your S5 ammo with your RFD if it doesn't get there". That is without any prompting on my part.
(it is amazing trhat the processs took all of the twelve weeks advised by BASC. Not that I am suspicious:suss: ).

all amax of the correct caliber are deer legal in england, the wording in england is soft point or hollow point bullet .the amax is a hollow point bullet with a soft tip .perfectly legal. also on mod ranges even if you are doing your dsc1 the rules state fmj.sparsholt college uses sako fmj for their dsc1 on moodies down range.as stated the dsc shooting is to test the candidate not the ammunition.

Well, after my chat with the young lady at Firearms licensing. I had a phone call last night and wonder of wonders the FEO is coming to see me today.
